  • 6-week stay at Dick and Dixie

"We stayed for a long time to diving. It is a perfect destination. It is ideal to rent an apartment because in hotels it is small and dark. The owners are very generous people. They are always ready to accomodate you and answer your questions. The apartment is large and comfortable. Lots of windows so it's good for those who do not always want to use air conditioning. Basic amenities. We can use the washer so bring little clothes. The distance between West End center is 10 minutes walk. It's sloping so to come back, it's a little exercise. It was our cardio of the day. Take the taxi $ 3 / person if necessary. It is very safe even in the evening. Very little lighting so provide a flashlight or other. I highly recommend this place and yes we would go back. Again thank you for your great kindness Dick and Dixie! Greetings to your wonderful daughters. • Tout simplement exceptionnel (Simply Exceptional!)

"With our 4 children, we came from France to visit Roatan. La Diosa was THE place to stay and we had a marvelous time there : the house and the garden are really wonderful, well equiped, with everything you might dream. The beach is near, and with the kayacks, you're able to snorkel on the beautiful reef in a few moments. Humming birds can be seen while you're taking your shower in the open air. The view is breathtaking. Beeing located on the east part of Roatan is really an advantage : this part of the island is more authentic, but in less than an hour you can access, if you want, the more touristical places in the island. Not far from the house, beautiful beaches, wonderful dives with "subway water sport" that pick you up right from the dock at La Diosa. Punta Gorda with its Garifuna joyful feats and dances is very near... And what made our stay really remarkable was the presence of Jorge. He is perfect in his role as caretaker : helpul, efficient, hardworker, always available but never intrusive. And we found he goes far beyond his duty, in the good sense : friendly, giving good advices, taking care of our security in every aspect, always ready to talk about Honduras and Roatan, showing our kids how to cook a traditional recipe. After a few days, though he was always discrete, we had the impression of being at home with a friend nearby. Jorge is really precious and added greatly to the quality of our stay in La Diosa… The best summary comes from our kids "when do we come back ?". And though it's very far from France, no doubt we also dream of it! PS : if you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, don't hesitate to go far east, on the dirt road, to "La Sirena" restaurant : the view and the beach are amazing, and you've got the feeling of being at the edge of the world. Their fishes are delicious."

  • Perfect home for getting away and relaxing

"We rented Rita's home for 4 nights. It easily accommodated my husband and I, our 3 adult children, 1 daughter in law, 1 son in law and our 19 month old granddaughter. The house is bright, spacious, well maintained and well stocked with everything you might need to make for a relaxing, stress free vacation. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, dishware and some basic spices and herbs. Rita, as well as the management company, are quick to respond to emails and to address questions or concerns you might have before your arrival. The management company was waiting for us at the airport and showed us the way to the house providing a brief orientation to the property. The property management company overseeing the daily running of the place was very professional and easy to reach when guidance was needed. Francisco, Luca and Gail all speak excellent English and went above and beyond the call of duty when I inquired about having a chef come to the house to prepare an island meal incorporating the Barracuda our "men folk" caught on a deep sea fishing trip. Chef Dixie (dixlee_ebanks@yahoo.com; 9556-7566) prepared an outstanding meal for us which was one of the highlights of our time in Roatan sitting around the dining room table in this gorgeous house right on the ocean enjoying the island flavors of coconut shrimp, conch fritters, island baked chicken, grilled barracuda, fresh sauteed local vegetables with rice and beans. She and her assistant were kind and easy to talk to. They were prompt, professional and cleaned up after themselves leaving the kitchen in good order. Sandy Bay is a great location if you are looking for lodging that is away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded beaches."

  • A Fantastic experience!

"1. Gabrial is all that and way more, he was awesome to deal with, punctual, honest, a great person, we even met his family as they joined us for dinner one night. Gabe found us some fresh sea food and I grilled it up...it was a very nice evening and they are great people. 2. the house was wonderful. It was as advertised and more, the vistas were awesome, it was so quiet, when the clouds parted(maybe twice) the nights were just wonderful. L walked the roads every day and Jo went with her a couple of times, they felt safe, never had an incident...it was all really really good. the layout is very cool, had we travelled with the kids it is a perfect layout. With the separate living area downstairs then the space on the main floor, tough to beat. 3. The place was very clean and well presented, it had everything that we needed plus...The balconies and views are just awesome, almost has to be seen to be appreciated. 4. The Island itself, well we are planning on returning in 2017 to look for a property to maybe build on, we are spending our downtime now researching...that is what we thought of the Island...I liken it to Cozumel 15-20 years ago, sleepy, laid back, great people, safe, a place that I can see us parking some money in the coming years. This was the first vacation that I have been on that I can honestly say without hesitation that I was sad to see end. Usually after 4 days I am pacing, anxiously awaiting the flight home...this time I was sad to go...it felt like home. Despite the weather(see #5) 5. The weather was awful, I think we caught the outer edges of Hurricane Otto, so it rained pretty much every day and most days it rained all day...we dove and we wandered around in West End, and on what was the best weather day we toured the Island with Gabe...despite the weather still a 12 on a scale of 1-10. 6. Gabe, well he gave us a tour of the Island one day and it was awesome, we saw some amazing beaches that were deserted, I suspect a combination of weather and low season...but stunning beaches none the less. We just toured the entire Island to get a feel for it...and the feeling was positive in the strongest terms. Gabe and his kids gave us a pretty good sense of the people on the island, but it seemed that everywhere we went people were welcoming and warm and friendly, and not in that I am about to extract money from you way...it really seemed like a genuine warmth...the place was awesome. 7. The negatives...well negative...the stairs in the house"
