  • Quiet Paradise

"We leave this piece of paradise in the morning - wish it wasn't so. Well appointed home with two bedrooms and two full baths. Three beds that would accommodate three couples nicely with spacious interior and an enormous deck (which we spent most of our time on). If you cook, the kitchen has most everything you need (bring spices). Nice island for food preparation and a six person interior table for meals. Washer and dryer in a separate downstairs room if needed. Fantastic snorkeling right in front of the home. Bring socks for snorkeling as the shore is somewhat shell ridden. Iguanas bask in the sun on the property and enjoy being fed fruit or bread and they most certainly are not afraid of human interaction. No mosquitoes but the no see-ums are plentiful. Use a fresh cut lime to take away the sting and triple antibiotic ointment to rid yourself of the red dots. Angel, an all purpose handyman for the property will take very good care of you. He's personable and speaks English well and is a very nice man. Sue, the owner, lives just behind the roundhouse and is accessible if a problem arises. We will definitely stay here again. It's just outside of town with very little traffic and away from the loud night life exhibited in town. Rustic living at it's finest!"

  • Perfect for us!

"Our recent stay at the Blue Bayou Beach house was perfect. if you're looking for amenities that you would find at a beach resort, this house is not for you, however it was perfect for my wife and I. Mike, the property manager takes care of anything you made need. He comes by everyday and is always a pleasure to talk to. You will not find a better view of the sunrise than from the hammock on the porch of Blue Bayou Beach House. We spent a lot of time on the porch. The neighborhood is quiet and it's only a 10-15 minute walk to town. There is great snorkeling right off the dock. I agree that the house could use a little TLC (updating), but it does have everything you need. It's the perfect place for two people to get away and truly have some down time! The island was great and I hope to go visit again soon!"

  • Our favorite Caribbean experience

"We had a most enjoyable 10 day stay at Slumberland this March. We were in the east villa which had a great view with large windows and a deck out front. We were able to observe sea life right from our deck and enjoyed the iguanas and crabs in the area below us. Some highlights of the trip were walking back from town on the sandy road in the moonlight, taking the water taxi to Neptunes and spending the day there snorkeling and relaxing on their beach, snorkeling right from our villa, and exploring Utila town. The villa was spacious, clean and comfortable. There was some music that drifted down from Chepes beach at night, but the air conditioner helped mask it. Andy, the manager was very friendly and helpful. When a storm blew up and at end of our trip and the ferry to Roatan was cancelled, he arranged a flight for us at short notice and also found an unavailable phone number that we needed for our hotel in Roatan. We could not have done those things without his help. We hope to visit Utila again and stay at Slumberland."

  • Oyster Bed Lagoon in Utila

"Beautiful villa with semi-private swimming pool, shared with one more villa. Fortunately there was a nice group on the other villa and we party together. We had a BBQ on the pool deck. The sun rise from the master Bed Room Balcony is spectacular to have a cup of coffee before diving. Bath tub is great to relax after diving and recharge skin and mind. Most TV channels are in Spanish. Easy access to main street restaurants. I paid $2.00 for taxi run of 10 minutes to downtown. Beach front restaurants have great food at a low cost, nice wine selection from Chile and Argentina. Utila has narrow streets and a lot of people walking, easy to make friends. Alberto, California"
