  • Better than described

"Sunni and Bob are great hosts. Very friendly and very knowledgeable about Utila, especially under the water! The cottages are very nice for up to 4 people. Amenities cover swimming, snorkeling, kayaking or just chilling. You'll have to kayak (very easy and easy to learn, even for this 65 year-old) to the cays if you want to get very basic needs or basic restaurants. You hire a panga (as low as $10/person one way) if you want to go into Utila Town. The pangas rarely go after dark or in bad weather. Scuba is the thing in Utila. Most of the dive shops are in Utila Town. I went to Captain Morgan's as advised by Sunni and it was an awesome experience. Sunni's Cove is a "get away from it all" experience. I suspect that the power will go out from time to time because the WiFi was iffy during a storm. If you want five star accommodations, go to Hawaii, but if you want something more real to life, something you'll never forget nor regret, come here. Downsides: coffee is mediocre at best."

  • Perfect for us!

"Our recent stay at the Blue Bayou Beach house was perfect. if you're looking for amenities that you would find at a beach resort, this house is not for you, however it was perfect for my wife and I. Mike, the property manager takes care of anything you made need. He comes by everyday and is always a pleasure to talk to. You will not find a better view of the sunrise than from the hammock on the porch of Blue Bayou Beach House. We spent a lot of time on the porch. The neighborhood is quiet and it's only a 10-15 minute walk to town. There is great snorkeling right off the dock. I agree that the house could use a little TLC (updating), but it does have everything you need. It's the perfect place for two people to get away and truly have some down time! The island was great and I hope to go visit again soon!"

  • Beautiful, peaceful house on the hill on Guanaja

"We stayed at Bob's house here on Guanaja Jan.1-Mar.31, 2017. We love the privacy of this big house on the hill, 50 feet up from the ocean. The view is breath-taking from the screened in porch all across the front of the house. There is also a screened in porch to the back, so you can have open shutters and let the ocean breeze blow through the big, open house. The huge yard is just beautiful with all the fruit trees, palms, and hibiscus bushes lining the steps coming up. The beach here is fabulous, and we enjoyed walking it each day, sometimes way to Michael's Rock, where the snorkeling is wonderful, with all the coral and sea fans, along with all the different fish. My husband is an avid fisherman, and he had good luck fly fishing from docks and shore, wading out waist high, catching bone fish, grunt, snapper, jack. We ate fresh fish most days. With the full kitchen we cooked a lot of our meals. The grocery store is just a bit over half a mile walk, and they have what you need. We loved eating at Crazy Fish and Barnacle as well. If you take a half hour boat ride you will eat fabulous food at Sea View, at the cay, Mi Casa Too, and Graham's Resort as well. We climbed to the big waterfalls, the damned waterfalls,(where the locals get their water), and the small waterfalls by The Island House down the beach, climbed to a big cave, and went out on the ocean fishing, and sight seeing. It has been a wonderful three months on this friendly island and we can't wait to come back again next year!!"

  • Great View

"We had a group of 4 stay here for a week and I really can't say enough about the property. Everything was clean and fairly well taken care of. There were a few hiccups during the week but Raphael who stays at the house was always there to help out. The views from the pool and the deck were fantastic and the sunset cannot be beat. Everything that you could possibly need (minus food) is provided for everyone staying there. On top of that just about every morning and night the macaw's would fly over the house from nearby Gumbalimba Park or West Bay and West End. We really had a great time in the house and on the island and were so happy that we rented a house rather than staying in a resort."
