  • Luxurious Escape

"I have traveled quite a bit of the world and never have we experienced such personalized service. Not only is this home exquisite with a prime location on a pristine beach, the staff is 5 stars and the concierge service is second to none. We went so our husbands could surf and found a resort playground for the wives. Massage and horses delivered to the house, personalized tours to experience the country, and the most amazing housekeeping ever. 3 days in my husband asked me if they were washing his clothes as they were all mysteriously clean. They were! David and James did an amazing job fulfilling my every whim and doing it with a first class touch. We even had a misconnection on our flights with our friends. A quick email and David made arrangements to pick them up at a later time. When we arrived at the house it was stocked with everything we requested and Cecelia had the most amazing appetizers waiting for us. Please understand, I not only am a foodie but I work in the food industry around some of the best chefs in the world. Cecelia is right there with the best! She prepared beautiful balanced breakfasts at any requested time every day (request the Pitaya juice!) One day when we decided to be lazy she grilled a beautiful pork tenderloin for lunch. And dinner....dinner was always a gourmet treat. One evening she seared off a center cut beef tenderloin perfectly medium rare. It was beautiful and a great display of her culinary expertise. Cecelia we miss you every day! For surfers, Panga drops is directly in front of the house and is always good. Colorados down the beach is excellent as well but crowded. Definitely go to Pilis for the watermelon Mojito...you're welcome. NSR surf shop delivered and picked up our boards from the house so they were waiting for us upon arrival. I organize trips around the world for myself and a group of friends. This was by far the easiest process with the most glowing results I have experienced yet. The house is amazing, the service makes it even better. Bravo N360!"

  • Paradise in the jungle!

"In the words of Axle Rose, "Welcome to the jungle!" Except the only screaming we heard was from the howler monkeys that came right up to the back balcony of the house and "hung out" with us over dinner (this seriously happened on night three)! Our two young girls (ages 5 and 7) were overjoyed when the monkeys just watched us as they munched on leaves and crashed around on the branches! This place may be in the jungle, but it's an idyllic getaway for young families, or couples. We were a short walk to the common pool (100 yards away) where our kids loved to swim while overlooking the jungle canopy down the hillside! Don't believe the exaggerated reviews of the bugs in the pool. We were staying there a couple weeks later than one reviewer and had a blast in the pool. The ground-keeping guy was excellent and cleaned the pool every day (despite bugs in the jungle, it was super-clean)! The pool is long enough for some laps, while the kids were able to work on their swimming skills (the deepest part is only four feet)! In general, we were so impressed with how clean and well-maintained the grounds were. The house itself is gorgeous! The design is incredibly well adapted to the environment in which it's situated. Coming to Nicaragua from a cooler North American climate, we were expecting to be hot at night in a place that doesn't have air conditioning (the house is made up of an open screen system). However, much to our surprise, the cool evening breezes combined with some well placed fans kept us very comfortable each evening! The fully-functional kitchen was excellent, and we were able to make use of the bbq to grill fresh seafood we bought from the SJDS fish market! Each evening we ate while watching the beautiful Nicaraguan sun set on the ocean horizon below the jungle-covered mountains! The beach was a short drive away, but go at low tide. The Balcones property manager, Gabby, was so helpful when we arrived and frequently checked in on us! She warned us that sometimes we might see scorpions or tarantulas in the house, but we quickly realized that the reason for this is they are often looking for an open door. We just made sure the sliding doors were closed and we never had anything to worry about! Don't get me wrong, you'll see these cool creatures around the property (after all, you are in the jungle baby!), but there's nothing to worry about! The most interesting insect we saw in the house was a six-inch long Praying Mantis on the bug net. Cool!"

  • Excellent location, close to everything, yet feels private.

"We spent a full month in this cosy house and felt very secure thanks to the constant guards at the entrance. The personal working here was really nice, special mention to Roberto and Felix. The house is part of a 5 houses complex, all side by side. This house is the last on the right and has great space with hammock and 2 sets of table and chairs to enjoy the outside private terrace. Also enjoyed the outside space behind the house to hand-wash our clothes (other options are available to have someone wash your clothes in town). We used the swimming pool almost everyday and it was long enough to swim. Some issues every 3 o 4 days about the water quality but it was always taken care of promptly. Going to the beach is as simple as crossing the street. This beach is perfect for a family like ours. Easy and regular waves. Coming back home we could use the hoses to rince off before getting into the house. The house itself is fully furnished and has about everything we needed. Beds are comfortable, AC works fine and there are sufficient fans as well. Internet is working most of the time just fine. I will conclude saying the communication was easy with the owners and I would definitively recommend this place for anyone visiting San Juan del Sur."

  • Beautiful space in a beautiful town

"Our family of 6 stayed at Casa Gallo for a short get-away. It was everything the pictures and reviews seem. Beautiful space and wonderful host (Jose and Maria Elena). Clean and quiet. We loved the city of Granada, but had trouble even leaving the paradise of the house because it was so relaxing and tranquil just to spend time in the open air kitchen/dining room, the open court yard, the balcony with the view and the wonderful pool. This is a great space for our family of teenage and adult children, but I think it would also make a great space for a friends get-away, or families with small children. Other details: WIFI was strong and reliable, air conditioning is perfect for the Granada heat and sun, and you are in walking distance of many delicious cafes, restaurants and shopping in Granada (although it's great to have the option to cook in the large kitchen at the house--stock up on supplies a La Colonial or Union right down the road. We didn't have Maria Elena cook for us, but after 6+ months of living here in Nicaragua I can tell you that Nica food is delicious and I am sure Maria Elena makes some great Gallo Pinto--so I would recommend that, as well, even though we didn't take advantage of that option). Highly recommend this home. Richard is great at getting back to guests about questions before the trip (thanks!) and Jose is a great source of information at the house and in town. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back."
