  • What a vacation!!

"My family of 6 (four boys ages 3-8) just had an amazing week in Nicaragua!! The home is wonderful - right on the beach and has a great size pool. The property is clean and safe. We just loved Luis and Lesbia!!! The boys were never bored - digging in the sand, jumping in the waves, collecting shells and sand dollars, swimming in the pool, naps in the hammocks, eating Lesbia's wonderful cooking, riding ATVs with Luis down the beach, horse back riding, running into town to buy fresh fish, building a bond fires at night or trying to climb the palm trees for cocos!! The beach is almost empty and the sunsets are amazing! Jamie was very kind and easy to work with. Luis took us to two different days trips and really showed us around. We brought clothes and school supplies and were able to distribute them at the local school. Looking for a special vacation - this is your spot! Hope to return next year!"

  • Family Reunion Vacation

"The best word that describes this house, is spectacular! We had an amazing time. Our family of 10 traveled to San Juan Del Sur and rented both Villas at Casa Miramar. We included the meal plan as well and we enjoyed waking up every morning to a delicious home cooked breakfast. The banana pancakes were delicious. We started our days with excursion to different parts of Nicaragua. Ingrid was very good of giving us Ideas as to where to go as we had no idea. When we got back to our oasis we had a delicious dinner prepared by the staff. We didn't get to meet Vanessa as she was traveling to in the USA. The staff did an amazing job during her absence, we were well taking care of. We really enjoyed the pool and it was used daily. The view from the bedrooms were beautiful We are all planning our next trip, but this time it will be more than 8 days. Thank you Ingrid team , we miss you! Vanessa thank you for your accommodations, you made this so easy!"

  • Overall - a good vacation!

"Overall, we loved our time in SJDS. The house is in a good location, just a short ride outside of town (we had rented a 4 wheel drive pickup - which I'd recommend). It was a good size for our family of 5, and we really enjoyed the pool and relaxing in the hammocks. The house is also near very nice beaches and local zip line attractions. There were a few things we were surprised by, but they weren't really the fault of the house. For example, we were without power in the house almost every night. It wasn't related to the house, but it would have been nice to know that this happens. Not only is it quite hot at night, but the air conditioners in the bedrooms also help to mask the dogs barking, roosters crowing, or horns honking. I don't know if power outages occur that regularly, but they did the week we were there (one for about 11 hours). A suggestion we'd give would be to provide a cell phone and internet service for an additional fee. A cell phone is provided upon arrival, but it worked sporadically (and ultimately not at all) and I ended up using my own in order to get a hold of the property manager. Internet is also provided, but it requires a trip into town in order to provide a router number, purchase airtime, etc. We tried on a couple of different occasions, but were never successful in getting wifi. Again, not the end of the world (it was actually nice to be disconnected) - just a suggestion that we'd have been willing to pay more to have this set up. Also, there is a care taker on site which can throw you off a bit at first, but we really appreciated having him there. He was very nice, very helpful, and we appreciated his service. Overall, we really enjoyed staying here. It was a very private location, a nice house, and and it provided our family with a vacation we are sure to not forget. We would definitely consider staying here again if we visit SJDS in the future."
