  • Amazing Family Vacation!

"Our family of five (2 adults and three kids ages 13, 13, 15) stayed at Villas Playa Maderas (Palmeras) for a week in March 2016. Our experience with this rental well exceeded our expectations in every way (and we had high expectations). To start with, Richardo was excellent to work with on the booking and payment. He was very accommodating and offered advice about the best time to come, transportation, meals, etc...the villa itself is exactly as described in the posting - yet, in many ways it is indescribable. The sunsets, the warm breeze off the water, the view, the sounds of the breaking waves, etc... Are difficult to put into words. The house was perfect for us in every way. It's open design was nice and yet everyone had their own privacy. The pool was absolutely perfect, clean, and refreshing and the view...is epic. Sharing the pool with another villa is no problem at all - we had a couple of neighbors and had a nice time getting to know them. And, the pool is plenty big. The location of the villas is fairly remote yet perfectly positioned between two fantastic beaches. The walk to the sand is 144 steps down the hill to the water. Maybe 2-3 minutes. Playa Maderas is only a short beach walk away where there are a couple nice restaurants with good food and cold beer. The beach is clean and beautiful. The surf shop at playa Maderas rents surf boards and most people go there to surf. We rented boards for about $5 for a couple hours. Lastly, the villa staff are really what makes the villa an amazing place to stay. Marie was very helpful / friendly and responded quickly to every request. She arranged for a couple of different staff members to cook for us for four nights - this was such a treat. The food was fantastic and very Nica authentic. Freshly caught fish, beans, rice, fresh veggies...wow. The security staff are very professional and friendly although their English is not very good - I tried to practice my Spanish pretty much every day and we often had a good laugh at my poorly articulated words. We felt very safe at all times - never a concern for us at all. Also, SJDS is a short taxi ride away and there's lots to do and see there. In general - I would highly recommend the Villas Playa Maderas for a family getaway as it really does have it all - the house, pool, beach, staff, and the view were all unforgettable."

  • Casa Sueños...definitely dreamy!

"When we were looking to book a place in SJDS we weren't sure where to start so we messaged a bunch of homeowners. Within minutes Rob responded & really made our decision easy. He suggested sites to see, places to eat, beaches, drivers etc...really helped plan our trip. We had Eli pick us up from the airport in Managua at night and the drive to town is interesting...I wouldn't recommend driving yourself if you are unfamiliar with the roads in Nicaragua. Eli was $120 for our group of 4 and he was friendly, on time, and had a bunch of great ideas for upcoming week stay! We were so excited to arrive at the house...although it was dark when we arrived we were blown away. The house is even more beautiful in person. Waking up the next day we had plans to hit the beach, but once we saw the pool we quickly changed our minds and fired up the blender! What a view!! We spent the rest of the week doing surf lessons, visiting the markets downtown, eating at some of the wide range of restaurants SJDS has to offer, zip lining, and doing a volcano hike! The house seriously has it all and then some. Oh, I almost forgot that we took Rob's advice and hired his cook Katalina for a couple of dinners...if you stay here make sure to hire Katalina! Steak and lobster one night, and swordfish the next!! Wow...that's all I can say. I wanted to bring her back home with me!! Thanks Rob, Eli, and Katalina for everything. Can't wait to return to this dreamy oasis!"

  • Beautiful property and beach!

"I live in Nicaragua and have stayed at the Playa Coco condos several times, this was my first time staying in this particular condo. I re-visit this beach often because it is one of the few beaches in Nicaragua that is relatively safe for kids and for people who just want to play in the waves - not for surfers. It is also a very quiet beach - often you will find that you are the only person on the beach. And, it is exceptionally beautiful, especially the sunsets. The complex itself - buildings and grounds - are well built and maintained, and most are furnished with Simplemente Madera furniture and finishings, which is a high quality Nicaraguan brand that is beautiful and that withstands wear and tear. The security at this complex is also very good, I always feel secure staying there, and the staff very friendly but inconspicuous. As for this particular condo, it is also very well maintained. My only suggestion would be to make sure the owner confirms that the guards have your name so that you can enter immediately, without having to take 10 minutes to look up your reservation on your phone. It would also be useful to have a guide to use the TV - there were 4 remotes I had to figure out each time I went to use it, which was only late at night, and I asked a guard inside once to help me out but that was not ideal. Also, these condos are in groups of 3, and one of the condos in the same grouping as this one was under construction, so I would check first with the owner that this is finished, as the workers start at 6am each day. And although it is an 'end' townhouse, that in terms within the grouping of 3 it is not a center unit, it is not one of the end units on the complex as a whole. All of this being said, I will visit Play Coco again and would recommend this particular unit!"
