  • Pura Vida!!!!

"My husband and I just spent a month in one of these apartments. We chose this spot because of the photos and reviews. We were not in the least bit disappointed! We thoroughly enjoyed our Costa Rican experience and now understand Pura Vida! The apartment is exactly as it is represented in the photos. Clean, bright, open and tastefully decorated. The kitchen is very well equipped and the BBQ is an added bonus. There are some very welcomed extras, such as numerous quality towels and linens, great beach towels and chairs. We did not lack any of the comforts of home. The apartment is on the outskirts of town, but it really is a 5 minute walk to the beach and about 15 minutes along the beach to town. We did not want to rent a car this vacation and we never regretted our decision. If we needed to get to or from town, a taxi was always available and reasonably priced. The bus also stopped right out the door. For us, a daily walk became routine. The beach is beautiful. It changes drastically from high to low tide. It is an amazing place to run - early morning or early evening. Safe for children, but fun for adults and many aquatic activities. Sunsets are spectacular! The town is very laid back, but with all the necessary conveniences. Everyone is very friendly and we always felt safe. Good number and variety of restaurants. There is a great information service in town that will help direct you towards many different tours or just answer questions. Deborah, the owner/manager is also a great help. She is available at all times and wants her guests to be happy. Her sons run the Canopy tour and that is a must activity!! Very professional and exciting but safe for all ages. There is even a discount for tenants. As mentioned in other reviews, this apartment is on the main road. There is noise, up until around 10 at night. The roosters ,dogs and monkeys also make themselves known, but all of this is part of the "true" Costa Rican experience. We so enjoyed our morning coffee on our balcony and an evening drink as the sun set, watching the world go by. We really felt like became a part of the community. All in all, a wonderful home away from home in a beautiful country."

  • Beatiful beach front property perfect vacation

"This was simply put, a truly amazing vacation for our group. The Blue Macaw was much better than we anticipated! The property is huge and the layout is perfect. All rooms were nicely furnished with air conditioning and very comfortable bedding The bathrooms were spacious and clean. The swimming pool is resort sized and fit 18 of us with room for 20 more. There is a private beach entry off the back of the property which made getting on and off the beach and the surf easy. The location was perfect as well, with downtown Jaco center being only a 4 minute taxi ride. Taxis were very east to get 24/7 and cheap. We were assigned 2 concierges by the hosting company Jaco VIP ( Lila and Maria) and they made sure we got to where we needed to go and were a hge help in organizing our activities, making sure we never ran out of ice, beer, or groceries, and saved us a lot of time and hassle. We also hired private chef service through the Jaco VIP company which turned out to be a good decision as our chef (Manuel) shopped for all the food we needed and cooked some pretty amazing dishes every day. Breakfast , Dinner and a BBQ our pool party we threw that Saturday with a DJ and bartender. I recommend Blue Macaw to anyone and everyone looking to have a really awesome vacation in Costa Rica. We'll be back without a doubt."

  • Amazing Condo with all of the Comforts of Home

"We loved our experience at Casa de Joyas in Tamarindo Costa Rica. This condo has all of the comforts of home and is beautifully decorated and furnished. The owners have taken tremendous care to ensure your experience will be positive and without issue. We particularly loved the pool area, deck, comfortable living room furniture, access to your own netflix account, and small details like the soft, fluffy towels available for use. We felt very safe in the area and knowing that Alvero was there to maintain and look after the building was comforting. Although he didn't speak much english he could understand a lot. The walk to Tamarindo was about 20 minutes but there is a grocery store right around the corner and Playa Langosta is only a 5 minute walk and is a very quiet peaceful place to watch the ocean surf and wildlife. Costa Rica has beautiful untouched beaches and we often found ourselves to be the only ones on the beach which is quite amazing. The property managers were also very helpful. At check in and check out they were on time, very polite, and knowledgeable about the condo. The owners made booking very easy and were a wealth of information about the area. They also have a great book there that provides a lot of great recommendations for tours and restaurants. We can't say enough about this condo and the enjoyable time we had on our first trip to Costa Rica thanks to Clem and Kelly!!!"

  • Relaxing, beautiful and lots of wildlife

"We really enjoyed our stay at this property near Manuel Antonio. It's located about halfway between the small town of Quepos and Manuel Antonio national park. The unit is not fancy, but comfortable and nicely decorated with lots of wood providing a warm feel. The upstairs bedroom is very large, but the downstairs is small with just room for a full-size bed. It was fine for my wife and I and our two daughters. It has two patios (a large one downstairs with a BBQ and a smaller one off the upstairs bedroom). Katherine was a very nice hostess. She lives nearby and is available to help with anything you need. The complex is lush and spread out. We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The pool is very nice and there are fruit trees (mango, papaya, coconut, starfruit, plantain) throughout. The best thing was the abundant wildlife. We saw squirrel monkeys (and fed them by hand, although I suppose we weren't supposed to), white-faced monkeys, iguanas, and macaws. I was even woken up from an afternoon nap by banging on the window. When I looked to see what the commotion was, there was a pair of toucans on the balcony. We found a great hiking trail through the jungle nearby with giant bamboo and a waterfall. We went to El Avion (a restaurant built around an old airplane) twice. It has a great view and we dined with sloths just off the restaurant balcony on our second trip. We would definitely recommend this to family and friends."
