  • Really enjoyed our stay!

"We loved feeling like we were in the middle of all this rural life-the pigs sauntering by early morning, the chickens (maybe not the roosters), the cows and their caballeros on the beach and in the water. The caretakers, their children and dogs were so sweet. Karla made us a delicious meal one night and came back the next night to teach us how to make her delicious tostones. The house is basic but very functional and comfortable and has a lovely view and setting. It was nice to have bikes to ride and the bus stop is close though I wouldn't have minded having a car for a day or two for more exploring. Actually I could have used another day or two just to sit on the back porch and enjoy the view and the sound of urraka birds and the wind in the trees."

  • Overall - a good vacation!

"Overall, we loved our time in SJDS. The house is in a good location, just a short ride outside of town (we had rented a 4 wheel drive pickup - which I'd recommend). It was a good size for our family of 5, and we really enjoyed the pool and relaxing in the hammocks. The house is also near very nice beaches and local zip line attractions. There were a few things we were surprised by, but they weren't really the fault of the house. For example, we were without power in the house almost every night. It wasn't related to the house, but it would have been nice to know that this happens. Not only is it quite hot at night, but the air conditioners in the bedrooms also help to mask the dogs barking, roosters crowing, or horns honking. I don't know if power outages occur that regularly, but they did the week we were there (one for about 11 hours). A suggestion we'd give would be to provide a cell phone and internet service for an additional fee. A cell phone is provided upon arrival, but it worked sporadically (and ultimately not at all) and I ended up using my own in order to get a hold of the property manager. Internet is also provided, but it requires a trip into town in order to provide a router number, purchase airtime, etc. We tried on a couple of different occasions, but were never successful in getting wifi. Again, not the end of the world (it was actually nice to be disconnected) - just a suggestion that we'd have been willing to pay more to have this set up. Also, there is a care taker on site which can throw you off a bit at first, but we really appreciated having him there. He was very nice, very helpful, and we appreciated his service. Overall, we really enjoyed staying here. It was a very private location, a nice house, and and it provided our family with a vacation we are sure to not forget. We would definitely consider staying here again if we visit SJDS in the future."

  • Gorgeous

"Our family of 5 stayed at Casa Mana for five nights. We had an amazing stay at the property. Days were spent strolling the un spoiled beaches, watching the wildlife, and exploring. Evenings were spent cooking home cooked meals, and enjoying a cervasa on the deck listing to the ocean. Janele was amazing having arranged a massage, fully stocked the house with bottled water, baked goodies, booked taxis, and was available for any questions we may have had. Our family felt safe and had a wonderful evening stay. We will be back for sure. The Eco lodge was also amazing. During our stay at Casa Mana we put up three of our daughters friends for four evenings. They had an amazing stay, rooms were clean, staff was friendly and accommodating. The food was great also, having had a family dinner there during our stay at Casa mana. Wonderful time had by all! Thank you"

  • Stunning

"We spent an unforgettable month in San Juan del Sur and it was mainly due to the wonderful accommodations at Casa Mari and the people we met. Maritza was excellent with her correspondence and everything went without a hitch. The home is beautiful and well taken care of. Maria is a very efficient and a lovely person. Raul is helpful with anything that needs taking care of. They made the stay extremely comfortable. It's just a short walk to any part of town. The swimming pool at the house is a wonderful way to spend the heat of the day. There are suites on the bottom floor of the home but are separate"
