  • Perfect location on the island!

"This was a great place for a quiet girl's trip, a couple, or small family. We were three women who wanted a Caribbean vacation AWAY from the resorts and cruise areas. The home was clean, and in a perfect location for the ocean breeze. Travelers should know you must walk along a trail to reach the property, but the view, quiet location, and breeze is worth the walk. The caretakers were very kind, accommodating and helpful...one was even waiting for us with a light when we were not back before dark. The kitchen had basic supplies for cooking, although we had a little trouble with the propane tank. Santiago was quick to get us another one and help us connect it. One air conditioner worked well, but was very noisy. The other didn't work. The property manager quickly sent a repairman, but it was unrepairable. Sleeping was a bit warm in that bedroom! My only suggestion is to provide some sheets with a higher cotton content (I'm being very picky here). If you've looked into this area, you know that this island is still off the beaten path which has advantages, and some disadvantages. The people are extremely kind, but there was a mugging the previous month so be cautious walking at night. We (three women) felt very safe during the day. A local, named Rene', was a good guide if you want to take a day trip or go out at night. There was also quite a bit of trash everywhere, but the area around the home is relatively clean. On a calm day you can snorkel down the path, and the Firefly restaurant was a wonderful place to get a meal. The water taxis are easy to use and can take you anywhere in the area for a low cost. This was a great place for our adventure! Highly recommended!"

  • Incredible place!

"We not only loved the place, we made a new friend (well, actually lots of them - not just Sandi but her pets and all of the Monkeys, birds, Iguanas, etc.). We loved being so close to the Rain Forest. We watched "Iggy" the Iguana climb the 30 foot tall avocado tree to eat avocados, there were butterflies and humming birds everywhere. Monkeys to watch every day, right in the back yard. Fantastic! Sandi has great dogs that we loved and even a cat that stayed right outside our door and was the friendliest cat I've ever met. The location was perfect. Close enough to town to make it really easy to get back and forth but not so close that you hear any of the music or parties plus close to beaches. Right between the water and the rain forest. How can you top that? Sandi started our stay by taking us to the only Irish Bar in town for St. Patrick's day and introducing us to some of her great friends. people that could give us some great insight into the area. We then went exploring on our own and had a ball. Sandi sent us to some good places to get dinner and to buy local groceries. She also arranged some great trips with people she knew (which helped a lot because when someone takes you to an island and says that they will come back and pick you up at 4 pm - you really hope that happens, and it did! He was there ten minutes early). I would recommend Sandi and her place to my closest friends, with no hesitation, the way that she built the house is genius, with her living in the upstairs and two one bedroom apartments below. We had plenty of room to relax, a full kitchen with pans, dishes, etc. and an air conditioned bedroom. We are thinking about retiring in Panama and if we are able to pull that off, we will definitely spend more time with our new friend, Sandi."

  • Very nice property in Bocas - totally recommended

"We had a great time in this property. We used all the rooms available to accommodate a large group and the house was impecable. Super clean kitchen with all the necessities and more. The rooms in the second level house were beautiful and the bathrooms as well. Great living room space, too bad that the cable tv did not work. Bill apologised many times for this and it was simply bad luck. The housekeeper forgot our arrival date and the rooms were not cleaned when we arrived but she worked until late at night to fix and clean everything for us. She was super nice as well. Great house if you are looking for a location outside town with great accessibility. Nice balcony and dining table and decent rooms on the ground floor. Would totally recommend and come back as soon as i can!"

  • Comfortable home in a quiet location

"We enjoyed staying at Tera's home. It was comfortable with a huge porch and wildlife all around us. There is one large bedroom with a very comfortable bed. There is a smaller bedroom with bunkbeds. The living room and kitchen are plenty big for a small group. It would be nice if they could stock salt and pepper and perhaps sugar so you don't have to buy it. Lots of towels available which was very nice and appreciated. I thought the shower was fine and the water got very hot if you wanted it to get hot, my friends thought it could have a little bit more water pressure. No one had any real complaints though! We felt very safe there. You are really in the wilderness out here which we enjoyed. We saw howler monkeys outside in the trees right behind the house. One day it rained very hard and we saw a caiman in the water below the bedroom window (2nd floor). So cool. Javier even killed a poisonous snake in our driveway. This is not a complaint. We were happy to be in a natural environment. I say this because if you are bringing children, I would stay with them in the yard just to be careful. We didn't get to see the sloth but we looked for it. The house is about a 5 minute taxi ride into town. You could walk into town but we didn't quite feel comfortable walking down the road because of the cars, but several locals were walking. You can walk the other direction and go over to a little beach place called Skully's. To go to a big beach, you will take a taxi into town and then hop on a water taxi, or you will take a taxi about 30-45 minutes (round trip was $35) then a water taxi. Javier was attentive, polite, friendly and helpful. He can call the taxi's for you and help make arrangements for trips if you like - this was very helpful. We were on a "girls trip" and we are well-traveled and independent. He checked in on us a couple times a day. Personally, we wanted a little bit more space from Javier, but we understand he was trying to be helpful and make sure we had a good visit. He is a very nice gentleman. All around great location, great house, great people! We had a very wonderful, amazing trip and this house was perfect for us. We appreciate Tera letting us stay here."
