  • Perfection!

"This gorgeous condo is on the ground floor with pool and beach views. The patio area is equipped with sun loungers (facing the ocean and pool - perfect for watching the sunset over the horizon) and a BBQ. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need to cook or entertain at least 6-10 people. The rooms are big, the beds are comfortable, the air conditioning and fans work perfectly, the bathrooms are spotless and in perfect condition! The property managers were fantastic and ensured that everything was arranged for our arrival and stopped by to see how we were enjoying our stay. We will definitely be back - thank you for such an amazing place to enjoy Tamarindo!"

  • Rio Dulce Surf Condo @ Hacienda Iguana (Playa Colorados)

"My week long stay at the Rio Dulce Surf Condo was amazing! The condo is literally a 30 second walk to Playa Colorados and you could see the beach right from the front porch. From Colorados it is about a 5 minute walk to the other surf break Panga Drops. Maggie was awesome...replies very quickly and is extremely helpful and kind! For the trip, Maggie helped provide the transportation there and back through one of her drivers, making everything really seamless. Also, the driver could stop at a grocery store in Rivas on the way to Hacienda Iguana, just make sure you let him know during the drive again. Everyone at Hacienda Iguana is very friendly and the community is very safe as well. Pill's restaraunt was the go-to place for my boyfriend and I considering the food is excellent and is right on the beach of Playa Colorados (30 second walk from the condo). All the other places at Hacienda Iguana are more towards the entrance so it is a longer walk, it took us about 15-20 minutes to walk to the market place where NSR and Don Eloys is. The room was amazing and provided us with everything we needed including kitchen appliances, so we were able to cook for ourselves as well. Overall, my boyfriend and I had an amazing time and will definitely be back!"

  • Gem of a get-away!

"We had 11 in our group (extended family) and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The biggest family stayed upstairs, and we used that unit as the communal cooking/eating area. Constant ocean breezes kept everyone comfortable. Morning sunrises were amazing off of the balcony. Phenomenal snorkeling right off the beach out to the breakwater (favorite sightings included queen angelfish, bluehead wrasses, yellowtail damselfish, and a moray eel) . Kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, cookware, and 20L water dispenser. We spent 2 days away - one touring Mayan ruins and another to Belize via boat out of Costa do Cocos for snorkeling at Shark Ray Alley in San Pedro. The 12K road north from Xcalak to Casa del Sol is a bit rough, so the going is slow, but it is well worth it. In Xcalak, Leaky Palapa serves a wonderful dinner, and Costa has great fare/drinks too. The Casa picture must be a few years old, as the surrounding vegetation is more lush and developed now, adding to the tropical ambiance of the area. Sunsets and star gazing are musts from the roof deck. We stocked up on food in Tulum for the week on the way down, and picked up a few extra supplies in Mahahual. Top off your gas when you can. All in all, it was a wonderful trip for everyone (grandparents to the youngest grandchild - age 5). Host/owner did a wonderful job keeping everything maintained, clean, and our trip memorable and entertaining."

  • Five nights was not enough!!!

"This is what vacations are supposed to be like. After a superb time hiking around volcanos and kayaking down gorgeous rivers through the rainforest my wife and I spent five glorious nights at Toucan Stay Inn in the Owner's Cabin. It was like having our own little home away from home. The grounds consist of beautiful tropical gardens hiding behind a secure fence and gates, and it's just a very short walk down the road to the beach. The Owner's Cabin is a large one room, combo kitchen, living room, bedroom, with a full bathroom and a large screened porch. There is plenty of hot water. After a great night's sleep in the king size bed (some nights with the A/C, some nights listening to the rain) we'd have coffee, take a long walk on the beach, come back and make breakfast, then grab the beach towels, books, etc. and head back to the beach. We picked up a couple inexpensive low to the ground beach chairs at Walmart in San Jose earlier in out trip and they were perfect for the beach. There are hammocks to use to sling between trees if you prefer. If you want a beer or a cocktail, burger, or pizza, there is a beach bar right there. Better yet wait for one of the local women to come along with hot homemade chicken or veggie empanadas. After a day of total relaxation we'd venture out to one of the many many local restaurants nearby for dinner and then back to our cabin. Night life is available if that's your scene but we prefer our solitude. After seeing many of the other accommodations in the area we could not have been happier with our choice. Mike the grounds manager will soon become a welcome friend and give good advice on local attractions and activities. A couple things we did not know but were not a problem. You have to buy your own drinking/cooking water but there is a little grocery store across the road. $5 for 5 gallons almost got us through our five nights. Also, there is no housekeeping so you can leave your bed unmade just like at home. There is not a house safe but one didn't seem necessary. The wifi worked great, there is no house computer, if you want to ride a bike you'll need to rent one nearby, and breakfast is not included. Some travel sites have not been updated with that current information. Mike informs us we would not have enjoyed his cooking anyway! Oh, the owner Jon, is always reachable by phone and is also a trove of helpful information. Although not entirely necessary since there are taxis, I would recommend a car for greatest convenien"
