Volcano cottage rentals

A very small property that won’t work for everyone but was fine for the three adults in our family. All was as advertised, including cleanliness and clear warning about apparently inevitable power outages in the Hawaiian rain forest, for which backup lighting sources are provided and recovery procedures are clearly documented. A picture of the building from the driveway will stop viewers wondering why only the front door is provided as an outside view.

Beautiful, private, perfect place to see the east side of the big island . After a day of venturing out, loved returning to the peacefulness and cool breezes of the cottage . Fully stocked kitchen. Comfortable bed. Would love to stay here again in the future.

The pictures are accurate - this place really does feel like you're staying in a tree house! While there are neighbors, you cannot see them so you feel secluded and in the middle of the rainforest. It feels like it's just you, the morning birds, the nighttime frogs, and lush green surroundings. The hosts go above and beyond to ensure you have a good stay. They're super responsive via text if needed. They have equipped the kitchen with everything you need including spices and coffee. They provide a comprehensive binder of information about the home and what is available nearby to do, see, eat, shop. They also provide information on hikes and drives in Volcano National Park, conveniently located a short drive away. One thing that I did not know before visiting the Big Island is that there is a bit of a problem with theft, everywhere. Signs that warn you to not leave valuables in the car have piles of broken window glass next to them. In busy areas, I never worried, but off the beaten path I made sure to bring my stuff with me. The hosts of this property have provided a security system and a small safe to help you feel more secure. When staying in the Volcano area, if you plan to cook and prepare your own meals, know that grocery shopping is pretty limited. There are two nearby markets with limited supplies. The nearest big store is a 25 min drive, so plan accordingly. Overall, we enjoyed this charming cabin surrounded by nature and appreciated the hosts' thoughtfulness!

To start, the booking process and communications with the hosts were efficient and effortless. They provided all of the information for the cottage and the area you could possibly need. The cottage is what I call a work of art, or as they call it a work of heart. The craftsmanship of the cottage and its grounds are truly second to none. The unit itself is very well stocked, everything you need for cooking, eating, relaxing & exploring. The bathroom was perfect and well stocked with toiletries. The bed was comfortable & cozy with plenty of blankets and even electric blankets. TV & VCR with CD/DVD's. High speed WIFI. Outside has many great areas to sit, eat or relax. The unit is close to Volcano galleries, eateries and the National park. It was great to meet our host Kathryn, who made sure we had everything we needed and gave us some great background on the cottage built by her husband. She is truly a gracious host and a wealth of local knowledge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to future stays. Great one night stay with spouse after long day of hiking at NP. Bungalow is private, cosey, and close to park entrance. Love the shower and sitting area downstairs

We had an amazing stay here. It was clean, cozy and adorable.

Starting with the one lane roads making your way through the rainforest to this lovely property to sitting on the back deck surrounded by greenery it felt magical. The cabin is small and cozy. Very convenient to Volcanoes National Park. Chillier nights were thwarted with the electric blanket. Perhaps a little tight on kitchen counter space but wasn’t a big problem. We would definitely return to stay here.
