Blavand—making something good from something bad
It's nice now but Blavand wasn't such a great place to be in the early 1940s. Back then, Denmark was occupied by Nazi Germany and Blavand formed part of Hitler's Atlantic Wall, a system of coastal fortifications stretching from Norway to France. Remnants of that "wall" can be seen at the Tirpitz museum. Housed in an incomplete German Army bunker complex, it's one of Denmark's most popular museums, and features 4 exhibition areas that tell the history of the region, including its role during World War II.
