  • Lovely Castle in the Heart of Piemont/Valle D'Aosta

"This castle is located in a perfect location to explore Northwestern Italy. In three weeks we covered Milan, Turin, Mont Blanc, Barolo, and a lot more. There are endless adventures less than an hour from the location and this is a relatively undiscovered part of Italy, so you won't run into many tourists, which is refreshing! The castle itself is really cool. It's not for everyone. For starters, its about 250 steps from the valley floor to the entrance. I got used to it pretty quickly, but it was too much for my 75 year old parents. Also, this is not a luxury accommodation. No air conditioning (which wasn't the end of the world, there was a cool breeze at night), and fairly rudimentary bathrooms. Still, its a castle! There's a "secret passageway" that my kids absolutely loved, and there is a medieval church outside the gates that rings in the time. Beautiful high ceilings and ancient woodwork throughout. It's definitely a memorable experience! The owners were very easy to communicate with and the caretaker Ibrahim was also very helpful. Overall, a great vacation. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary in an overlooked and fabulous part of Italy, Castello Montestrutto is a great choice!"

  • A wonderful warm and inviting great Scotish residence for a large family or group with every amenity

"Our time in Scotland was truly enhanced by our accommodations and knowing we were coming HOME to a great place after long days exploring. The closeness to transit down 3 blocks away, aswell as being a nice 20 min saunter up to Princes street, Waverly Train station and a few more minutes up to the Royal mile made our adventures more than easy. Or going on the Stockbridge area and meandering 20 mins to the wonderful Botanical Gardens! The creature comforts and extras supplied by the wonderful owners of the Upper Villa iced the cake - from having tea, coffee some spices, sugar, including having milk, bread, butter, cheese and basic sundry items for laundry were greatly appreciated. As well as the flowers in the entry way, the terrific information guides, and the openness to answer our questions or print off our boarding passes bring highest Kudos from this Canadian Family of 7. One suggestion might be the investment in a slow cooker so when out and about supper is done when the group returns. Being close to several small grocery shops as well as numerous specialty shops for cheeses, wines, the butcher and take out shops for fast food also lent itself to being a great area to stay in. Having the Drying rack in the Kitchen or as it was dubbed by our teens "the torture rack" worked fabulously to get clothes dried. The spaciousness to allow for the whole group to eat supper at the table or spread out when it was down time worked really well with the Old folks & teenagers. The ambiance of the upper villa, knowing it had years and years of history and the unique Scottish architecture truly lend to the adventure in Visiting Scotland... Thank you so much for giving us a great stay Rona!!! We will recommend you to all our friends and family and hope to return in a few years. Suellen & Victor Larsen , Jennifer & Scott Guitard and Boys."
