  • Great getaway from it all

"Had a fabulous few days away from the hussle and bustle of work. Not to far from the beach and a quick nip down the road to the shops. Evything you could need for a break from it all. Arrived to tea, coffee and milk the necessitis after a long drive which was a welcome to a wearly traveler. Grandad gave us great directions to the nearest shops to stock up on food. The dogs also enjoyed running around in the enclosed garden and even had a run about with the guests next door. Roaring fire for the chilly nights was a perfect end to the day. Thank you for making us feel welcome and we'll definitely be back. Bronwen and family (and the fluffy hounds)"

  • Charming, well-equipped cottage with a couple of small shortcomings

"All in all, we had an extremely pleasant stay at Bay Cottage, which provides a brilliant base to explore Bude itself and Cornwall and Devon for those with a car. The cottage is comfortable and well appointed, with a decent-sized bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, and a spacious living/dining room. Most essentials are provided. The only slight blemishes were the following: - The approach to the cottage is dark and muddy. Although a torch is provided, for optimum security a light outside that automatically switches on as you approach would be welcome. - An extra towel to serve as a hand towel in the bathroom would have been appreciated (four were provided, but we are in the custom of using two when showering - one for the body, the other for the hair - and so had none left over). We ended up buying one from a supermarket, where we also had to buy toilet paper as only one roll was provided for a 10-day stay. - Although it is set off from the road and there is minimal noise, we were occasionally disturbed by noises next door (from the main part of Ebbingford Manor, including footsteps above the bedroom) or by people walking by our window late at night. - There is a bit of an issue with spiders - we got rid of many and cleared away numerous webs. - Lastly, it would have been nice to have more personal contact with the owners. We'd read about how friendly Gina and Jonathan are, but besides exchanging a couple of practical messages about an electrician potentially coming on our last day, we did not hear from them. We would've liked them to knock on the door, greet us and check everything was OK, etc., although we're aware that some people might find this intrusive. None of these detracted substantially from what was a highly positive experience overall."

  • Dingley Dell

"We have been holidaying in Crackington since 1950. Dingley Dell was the first thing we saw looking out of the Windows towards the sea, and became the dream house of us all. The house is stunning with wonderful views, beautiful period furnishings and features. Our fears about the possibility of an old and cold environment were quickly allayed by the effectiveness of the storage heaters throughout the house and the inglenook gas fire in the lounge. It rained for five days but we were just happy to stay indoors most of the time and watch the seas pounding Penkenna and the black rocks."

  • Lovely property great holiday,

"We had a wonderful stay in Bude. The property is within walking distance of the beach which is a bonus. We only used the cars for shopping. We were very lucky with the weather and had only one cloudy day when we did a 5 mile circular walk stopping at the Bay View for lunch which was very good. There is a menu for The Bay view at the property. Every other day was spent on the beach as it was sunny and warm. The property is very well equipped, spacious and clean, and just as is described. The cooker is excellent as is the large fridge and freezer. In fact there is a further fridge freezer in the utility room. The garden is extremely large which is great for the children (6) and there is a paved patio area with BBQ which is a sun trap. All in all we could not fault the property and hope to return may be next year, although we do like to go to different places. I would, and have already recommended the property to friends."
