  • Charming, well-equipped cottage with a couple of small shortcomings

"All in all, we had an extremely pleasant stay at Bay Cottage, which provides a brilliant base to explore Bude itself and Cornwall and Devon for those with a car. The cottage is comfortable and well appointed, with a decent-sized bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, and a spacious living/dining room. Most essentials are provided. The only slight blemishes were the following: - The approach to the cottage is dark and muddy. Although a torch is provided, for optimum security a light outside that automatically switches on as you approach would be welcome. - An extra towel to serve as a hand towel in the bathroom would have been appreciated (four were provided, but we are in the custom of using two when showering - one for the body, the other for the hair - and so had none left over). We ended up buying one from a supermarket, where we also had to buy toilet paper as only one roll was provided for a 10-day stay. - Although it is set off from the road and there is minimal noise, we were occasionally disturbed by noises next door (from the main part of Ebbingford Manor, including footsteps above the bedroom) or by people walking by our window late at night. - There is a bit of an issue with spiders - we got rid of many and cleared away numerous webs. - Lastly, it would have been nice to have more personal contact with the owners. We'd read about how friendly Gina and Jonathan are, but besides exchanging a couple of practical messages about an electrician potentially coming on our last day, we did not hear from them. We would've liked them to knock on the door, greet us and check everything was OK, etc., although we're aware that some people might find this intrusive. None of these detracted substantially from what was a highly positive experience overall."

  • A fantastic holiday home

"Another great stay at Roof Tops. Has everything you need and is a real home from home. The barn is spotlessly clean and the cream tea on arrival with home made jam is an added bonus. Vicky and Jason are on hand to deal with any issues promptly ( the only issue being tripped electric ). Will definitely be returning."

  • Great family accommodation in good location

"We go to Bude A LOT and have stayed in B and B's, hotels and houses and this has been one of the best. The house was clean, tidy, spacious with good accommodation upstairs and down. The downstairs open plan space worked well with designated areas and a useful separate large lounge. The utility room with wet room was ideal for sandy or muddy kids Upstairs all the bedrooms were really good sizes and all the beds were comfortable. Kitchen reasonably well equipped and loads of extra towels if needed. No child/ baby equipment as such but Nick did a brilliant job providing what we needed at no extra charge If we had to pick one fault, sound travels from upstairs and downstairs (only an issue for us with small babies waking at stupid hours and a relative in a downstairs bedroom) You can hear people walking around upstairs Nick was super efficient in both the booking process and when we had a query on arrival Would have no concern recommending this property and we will be looking to re book We had a take away from La Bocca which was good. Also, not been for a while but would recommend Elements and Life's a Beach. The Beach House Hotel was good for lunch and dinner. Rosie's at the end of the road was really handy. Waitrose delivered to us but Sainsburys, Morrisons and Aldi all on the doorstep."
