  • Lovely Cottage in a gorgeous part of the UK

"Have just stayed here for the past week. Felt like staying in a friend's house, the hosts are so lovely. The cottage is beautiful, and very comfortable. The owners have thought of just about everything (including nice welcome gifts.). Cottage is perfectly located to see all the high lights of this part of the Peak District including Curbar Edge just up the road, and of course Chatsworth House. There are walks direct from the door, and although I am not that much into cycling, I would have said this place is pretty much perfect for a cycling holiday..."

  • lovely cottage, lovely location but is there a scam on the fees charged ?

"clematis cottage was a well appointed cottage, warm and cosy. the 'Martins' were a very helpful, friendly couple and the location perfect for the Peaks and Dovedale. BUT BEWARE, if you book this cottage you will be charged 2 lots of booking fees as this is not 'direct' with the owners ie. 'owners direct' charge you a fee then immediately pass you on to ''sykes' cottages who charge you another fee, thus, a £222 stay cost £ 60 in fees !!! is this a scam ? it is certainly not good practice !!! jeffrey mccann"

  • Excellent weekend

"Had a wonderful weekend here with all the family (6 adults, three children and a baby). We were celebrating our Ruby wedding anniversary and were touched to find a card on our arrival - a lovely gesture. The house lacks for nothing including lots of information about the area (restaurants, trip out etc). It is very comfortable and full of character, with all mod cons and very comfy beds! It is also very tasteful decorated and we felt very much at home. The highlight for the children was collecting eggs and feeding the animals with Farmer Vic who gave them an experience to remember (he's a natural with children!). Waking to the sound of peacocks was a unique experience too. The organisation and information given both before and during our stay was excellent. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our time here making new memories and I would certainly look to stay here again with the family for any future get-togethers."

  • Lovely location maybe a little small for six for more than a couple of nights.

"Had a lovely stay. The property was lovely and warm. There are a few suggestions we have, having stayed in many holiday properties over the years. Had it been wet, we would have struggled with wet boots and walking gear as there wasn't really anywhere to hang them to dry. We were there for four nights but it was still tricky finding space to put food provisions and a freezer compartment would have been useful. We found the cooking pans rather minimal with only one lidded saucepan and no casserole pot. The location was fab though."
