  • Stunning Midships in glorious Hope Cove

"We've stayed in Hope Cove before however this time we felt so much more part of the surroundings. This is due to the wonderful position of Midships. Usually we read lots of books, but not this time, we just kept looking at the view, watching out for the seal, gazing at the sunsets. Relaxing! We are so pleased to have found Midships the best place we have stayed in (and we've stayed in alot!). We are looking forwards to our return already."

  • A real home from home

"Clearly much loved by the owners, it's clean and comfortable without being precious. We really felt able to relax, a real home from home. It's very well equipped - if there is a kitchen utensil you need but can't find then you just haven't looked hard enough! Very dog friendly, the garden is well enclosed and the front entrance hall makes an excellent bedroom for dogs. Booking and key arrangements etc were very well handled. East Prawle is a really peaceful spot with a fabulously quirky pub. the Pigs Nose, just 200 yards away. Piglet Stores also ok, but running down stock as it closes for the season at the end of October. The area is great for walking on the SW Coast path and generally mooching about - Salcombe, Totnes, Kingsbridge, Start Bay, Dartmouth etc are all in easy reach and worth a visit and if you like golf go to Thurlestone - wonderful cliff top course and very welcoming to visitors. We'd certainly recommend this place for couples and families Malcolm Wilson (visiting from North Dorset)"

  • Cosy cottage in perfect location

"We stayed for a week in the cottage and found the location perfect for eating out, shopping and dining. A few steps from the ferry to East Portlemouth, which we used on several occasions to access the excellent beaches and clifftop walks. The cottage itself was very well equipped and maintained, with useful extras like the electric barbecue, which we used to have steaks on the patio. We ate out on a few occasions and particularly liked the Victoria Inn. It's difficult to get parked near the property, so we bought a seven-day permit which allowed us to use the long-stay car park 5-10 minutes' walking distance (that permit also allows use of several other car parks across the South Hams). I can't really fault the cottage, though some may find the stairs a slight challenge. The owner, Ann Smith, was very pleasant to deal with and I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to friends or relatives. I certainly hope I have the opportunity to visit again in the future."

  • Great views and history.

"The drive to the property is down some typical narrow country Devon lanes but if you take your time it's fine and the location is worth it. The house that the apartment is in is gorgeous. The apartment itself is very comfortable, light bright and airy. We experienced a strong wind while there but the apartment was well insulated so we could enjoy the sea waves from indoors. It's a great place for walkers as the coastal path is right on the doorstep. The history of Hallsands was well worth reading; interesting and moving. We got in contact with Russell (the owner) at the beginning and end of the holiday just to for information really and he replied very promptly. The nearby villages are all worth visiting. A really great place to take a relaxing break - thank you."
