  • Lovely autumn break

"Great welcome with a lemon cake waiting when we arrived. Gill, the owner, gave some good tips of what we could get up to. Was easy to find and not far from the motorway link. Local shop well stocked and lovely pub which we visited most nights - George Inn. Good links to Penrith and Kendall with Windermere being a highlight of the trip. Kendall Chocolate factory was a bonus outside to the cottage. Quiet and conveniently located and had everything you needed for a break away. Cosy and ideal for some time away from the city. Not been to the Lake District before but was a fab first visit, hopefully not the last."

  • Lovely cottage set in stunning scenery

"There were 5 of us in total staying in Primrose Cottage, 2 adults, a teenager, a birthday boy who turned 11 on our last day and a Working Cocker. The house was perfect for our family, the bedrooms were a great size and both had comfortable beds, the views from both bedrooms were fantastic. The Bathroom was a great size & with plenty of hot water & lots of towels, we were well catered for. The living room was perfect for reading a book or sitting around with a glass of wine in the evening (there is a TV but we were on a digital detox!). The kitchen was where we spent most of our time, it had everything you needed, including a lovely sized table for playing monopoly or dominos. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you need (including a cafetière which is a must in our house!). The wood burner was amazing (even in August) for a chilly evening. The back yard was perfect for Ted, I was a little dubious about sharing this, but you share it with a holiday let so it was fine (our dog did get on with next doors). There are 2 outhouses 1 with a washing machine and one which housed 2 bikes, which the boys used to explore the area. There is a lovely 4 mile walk from the front door up the steep hill opposite and looping back to the village (there are some helpful OS maps to guide you). The village itself was lovely and great to be away from the bustle of Hawes, which we all loved. We ate at the White Hart and got take away pizzas from the pizzeria in Hawes (both thoroughly recommended after a day in the Dales). We all fell in love with this part of the world and will definitely be back, and will be staying in Primrose Cottage again."

  • Perfect property to enjoy the Yorkshire Dales

"The property is in a super location. The views are beautiful with some lovely walking right on the doorstep. The accommodation was clean and comfortable for the six adults, one baby and two dogs in our family group. It was very well equipped. The owner and manager provided a very efficient, friendly service and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at East Calvert Cottage. We would definitely recommend the cottage to friends and family and would love to return for another holiday to enjoy the peace and tranquility that East Calvert Cottage provided. ECC is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some of the superb walking that the Yorkshire Dales provide."
