  • Fantastic property and excellent host! A dream vacation in Burgundy!

"Our stay at La Tour de Labergement was everything we dreamed of and more! Brigitte is an exquisitely talented host who went above and beyond to make sure our celebration was flawless. The occasion was a combined birthday/anniversary party attended by 8 adults. Brigitte helped us to find a musical quartet to play at our welcome dinner, book a Michelin starred caterer who created an unforgettable dining experience, set up a fishing trip with a guide, arrange for transportation to visit wineries - and even have fresh croissants and baguettes delivered every morning! We love to walk and hike and could not imagine a more ideal setting. The property has gorgeous walking paths along the river running near the chateau and it backs up against a National Forest. We opted to have two housekeepers with us for our stay - each of them was delightful and very helpful and their presence made our visit all the more enjoyable. The beds were all exceedingly comfortable and all the bedrooms were beautifully decorated with just the right touch of whimsy. The house was impeccably clean - and very warm and cozy (not always easy in a stone structure built centuries ago!) Finally, just to demonstrate Brigitte's commitment to her guests; we had some difficulty with our rental car which was completely unrelated to our house rental. Nevertheless, Brigitte took it upon herself to step in and sort out the entire issue with the local rental agent. We were very touched. We give La Tour de Labergement our highest recommendation, whether for an all adult group or a group of adults and children, this is a magical location with a very devoted host. Cheryl M."

  • Coolcloger is a Rare Gem

"We are a large family (12, including a 6 month old and a 2 year old) that likes to travel together. Of the many amazing vacations we've enjoyed, our stay at the Coolcloger House was at the very top of our list. The website gives a mere suggestion of the delights that await Coolclogher guests. The home, minutes from Killarney, has been restored by its owners, Mary and Maurice Harnett, to its former glory, with beautiful antiques, exquisite wallpapers, and historic paint colors. The bedrooms are perfectly appointed, each with its own bath and breathtaking vistas from every room to the Kerry countryside. The beds/pillows are very comfortable, the linens fresh and white and crisp. The kitchen is very well outfitted, complete with a 6-burner Aga oven/range. There are several large gathering spaces, and multiple fireplaces, one of which was prepared for us every night. Yet, Coolcloger is not austere; every space is inviting and comfortable. We felt all week like we were at the home of some generous relative. Mary and Maurice were on hand as needed throughout our stay to advise and guide us about everything from outings, meals (she has outstanding chefs on hand who can prepare meals as desired), shopping (she drove us to her butcher and baker), and even party planning. On this last point, let me say that she orchestrated a elegant dinner at Coolclogher for my husband's birthday, which included rack of lamb, a homemade birthday cake, and live Irish music and dancing. What a night! I wanted to cry (in fact, I did cry) when we left. Our family always wants to choose a new adventure when planning travel, but we all agree we'll return to Coolclogher!"
