  • Great apartment right in the centre of Amboise

"Chateau Chaptal is a very nice, spacious apartment right in the middle of Amboise. You couldn't ask for a better location. You could walk to everything. It's in an old building but it has been renovated with a modern kitchen and bathrooms. The apartment is also very clean and well equipped: everything you might possibly need is there. It is surrounded by restaurants and food store if you prefer eating in the lovely kitchen. I would definitely go back there if I ever went to Amboise again."

  • Very charming

"This is a very lovely apartment in a very lovely spot, directly next to the chateau at Amboise. The location cannot be beat. You are steps away from the Loire River and downtown Amboise. Every bedroom has a view of the chateau. There is one parking spot on the property, which was very convenient. The garden was a wonderful spot to share a glass of wine with friends and watch the hot air balloons fly overhead. The owners very helpful and flexible, especially as our flight and arrival time were delayed. This is a very old, charming house. Original beams are visible throughout the living area. Though the kitchen is quite compact, there were plenty of dishes and dining space for the 6 of us. The Nespresso machine and pods were very much appreciated! This was a wonderful home base to explore the chateaux and countryside of the Loire Valley. Almost all of the major sites are within 30 minutes."

  • Highlight of our Trip!

"We had the pleasure of staying at La Paquerie for 2 nights. The place is unique, comfortable and romantic – but more about that later. The highlight of our entire trip to France was spending time with the owners Brian and Therese. To give you an idea of how impressed we were, on the second day we decided to spend our time talking to them instead of visiting Chambord! Brian is a retired 747 pilot, decorated by the Queen of England for his services. He is also an accomplished photographer and a master gardener, among many other talents (Leonardo da Vinci would be proud!). Therese is an accomplished painter, potter and poet. She has held exhibitions of her work, some at the invitation of the ambassador of France. Both have lived in many countries around the world and have a wealth of amazing life experiences. Both Brian and Therese were very hospitable. When we arrived, our room was ready, with the heater already turned on such that the room was comfortable. They walked us through the room and showed us how to use various amenities. Since it was Sunday and late, they called a restaurant for us to make sure we will get the dinner before they close. Therese also ensured that there was someone at the restaurant that spoke English, and that they would be able to make gluten-free (for my wife) and vegetarian food (for me). The cave room is very comfortable. We slept really well, probably because the thick walls made is very quiet, and the bed was quite comfy. Based on our emailed preferences, Therese had tea bags and hot-chocolate for us in the room. They provide bathrobes and slippers. (Do ask them the story on how they got that huge wardrobe inside that room!). The breakfasts were simply amazing! With the classical music playing in the background, the breakfast was served with great presentation. Therese found gluten-free croissant and French bread, that was a very pleasant surprise. We had her homemade delicious fruit jams, OJ, tea/hot chocolate, fruit salad, muesli, yogurt, etc. Brian shared some great photography tips when he realized I was interested in photography (e.g. how to automatically remove tourists from pictures such that the photo looks like it was taken when nobody was around). They shared a lot of information on the area, and were genuinely interested in making sure we had a great time. We made 2 new friends, and were sad to leave their company. We will definitely be back!"
