Recent Paris Arr. 3 (Marais, Picasso Museum) reviews

  • Lovely, light-filled flat that let us live like a real (fake) Parisiennes for a week

"Really four and a half stars, only because the water heater was a little wacky the week we were there (Christiana said it's about to be fixed though.) The apartment is gorgeous, rustic with the fixtures and wood plank floors but so comfortably furnished, very airy and peaceful and in a really nice part of the Marais--central and full of character and cafes and little shops but also a nice amount away from the most intense retail part of the 3rd Arr. For us it was perfect, especially nice if you want bedrooms set on opposite sides of the apartment. It's also less than three minutes walk from two metro stops (Temple and Republique), and maybe five mins to all the stores and cafes and food stalls of Rue de Bretagne. (Lots of cafes/bistros right on the block as well.) Christiana was consistently nice and responsive about everything--she's there if you need her and leaves you alone if you don't. TV with some main English-language news channels were great to have pre-election and wi-fi was amazingly fast. Small elevator (super standard size for Europe) says it fits three people though two is more accurate unless you want to accidentally make out with your elevator mate. One more thing: have her show you the front-door lock when you arrive, it's easy once you get it but it's like a complicated handshake if you don't. Overall a really wonderful experience, definitely recommend whether you're new to Paris or come all the time~"

  • FANTASTIC -- you won't be sorry

"Bonjour! My husband and I stayed in this studio for three days. We fell in love with the Marais neighborhood and all it had to offer. We were greeted upon arrival by Elizabeth, who showed us the studio and gave us a quick neighborhood tour. We appreciated her dry wit and helpful suggestions. The Marche des Enfants Rouges covered market right next door offered such a variety of vendors and food. The Metro station is an easy walk. We felt more like resident Parisians than tourists while staying here. The studio had everything we needed, was clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable, hot shower/bath amazing, not to mention the free Wifi. Steve and Eric provided a cell phone for use, which came in extremely handy for using Google maps, etc. and communicating with them. It was our first time in Paris and we were a bit anxious about getting around on our own and not speaking French. Steve, Eric and Elizabeth's warm, hospitable manner made those fears quickly disappear. It felt like home each day when we returned to the studio. We're already saving up so we can return for a more extended stay."

  • Location is fantastic, apartment needs a little work

"First, the owner needs to figure out a back up plan to the key pick-up situation. After 11 hours of travel we get to the apartment to finally unload our luggage and find out the cleaning person forgot to leave the key in the specified location. We ended up waiting 2 hours until the manager drove in to give us the key. Having to schlep 4 pieces of luggage around the narrow streets of Paris to find a place to hang out for two hours is not a good way to start a trip. The manager was very apologetic, but it would have been a nice gesture if they left a bottle of wine or something for the inconvenience. Ce La Vie...Anyway, we got over it we settled in. So, If location is your priority, then this place is perfect. Quiet, quaint Le Marais street within 10 - 15 minute walk to most of the main sites tourists want to see in Paris. Tiny little bakery on the corner and a great breakfast place run by some Brits two blocks away. Safe, lively quaint area of town. We really grew to love the location. As for the unit itself, the apartment faces a courtyard, so you can see and hear the lives of your neighbors (much like living in any big city), but except for one night out of 4, it was actually very quiet. Lovely view into the courtyard with chairs and table, although it was a bit rainy most of the days, and we didn't get to use it. The building itself could use some work as the hallways were dark, steep stairs and the carpet and walls were worn. But, kinda adds to the charm ,at least IMO. Everything is very functional and clean (stove, fridge, microwave, iron, TV) but definitely has the feel of a batchelor pad. The biggest negative I can say is that the bedroom really could use some updating to make it more comfortable - pillows and bed have definitely seen better days. And, I imagine it's a very hot place in the summer with no AC with only a small table fan. Overall, for the price and location it was fine for us. But, if you are particular about comforts of home (U.S. style) then it might not be for you."

  • Perfect!!!

"I don't even know where to begin. Francesca was very easy to communicate with via email and responded right away. The apartment was perfect. Very clean with a welcome bottle of wine and water upon our arrival. Fully equip kitchen and washer/dryer combo. Very spacious bedrooms and plenty of towels. Catherine was amazing! Very informative, very friendly and just a pleasure to work with! Thank you both so very much! This has been my favorite place to stay in Paris. I have stayed in the 5th Arr. but now love the Marais! I will stay here again :)"
