  • Superbes Vacances

  • Paradise in the Southern Rhone

"This is a fabulous place to stay both in terms of the property and its location. Located in the small village of Sauveterre, which has a general store, bakery and pizza restaurant and you are within easy distance of the main wine areas of the southern Rhone (including Lirac, Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueryas) as well as Avignon and the many small villages of the Luberon. There is also a very good local wine maker just up the road too! The property itself is completely enclosed by a high wall with electronic gates to give complete privacy but being on a slope it gives beautiful views of the countryside and Mount Ventoux in the distance. The apartment is part of the 18th century Bastide but on the lower level with floor to ceiling windows opening out to a shaded patio and the driveway. There are then steps down to a secluded patio, large pool and garden. The air conditioned apartment has two comfortable bedrooms and a kitchen/dinner with a breakfast bar and lounge area. We found this an amazing place to stay in and often cut short our afternoon excursions so that we could come and spend time in the apartment and by the amazing pool and gardens. Our 2 dogs could not have been made more welcome either. Geraldine and Jean-Pierre were great hosts, being very hospitable and also helpful about the local area, whilst also giving us our own space to relax. We generally went out wine tasting, visiting markets or exploring during the day with a stop for lunch (it is imperative to try some of the recommendations from Jean-Pierre and Geraldine, particularly for us the 'Moulin' in Villeneuve, with fabulous desserts, great service food and wine), in one of the many pretty villages before returning in the afternoon to relax by the pool and then cooking up a simple dinner in the evening to eat on the patio with a good local Cote du Rhone wine. It was lovely to chat with Jean-Pierre and Geraldine and thank you to you both for making our stay so enjoyable. We could not recommend this place (and the local area) more highly and just wish that we had been able to stay much longer."

  • Villa grand confort, environnement calme
