Simple, cosy mountain retreat
"This small gite, nestled in amongst a few other chalets, is set just up the road from one of the most beautiful Medieval villages (Evol) we've ever seen. A pop-up cafe opens over the summer months, at lunchtime, and all basic necessities can be purchased from the next town, a few km down the mountain.
The surrounding area is also well worth exploring. We particularly liked Eus, a small hilltop village, about 45 min. drive away, and the town of Villefranche de Conflent is also fascinating, with a superb castle (and pleasant restaurant) perched on the top of a very steep hill.
The accommodation is essentially an open-plan studio, with sofa bed, and an outdoor, covered area overlooking the garden and hillside.
The equipment and maintenance of the property are good.
Communication prior to arrival with the owners was excellent. They are welcoming and friendly, and sometimes use the other half of the mountain chalet, which has separate access.
An added boon is that dogs are welcome, and a mountain track leads up into the hills from right outside the door."
