  • wonderful base for visiting Aix and surrounding area

"We had a great week here. The house is ideally located for walking around the old city of Aix, and the availability of a parking space allows for easy trips to the surrounding area by car. Everything works well and the house is well-equipped. Georges was very kind and helpful in welcoming and orienting us. The location is quiet and calm at night. As others have mentioned, the only downside is that a lot of students tend to hang out in the square in front of the house during the week days, which can be a little loud, but this wasn't a big deal, especially because we were out exploring during the daytime. More importantly, the location seems quite safe and is perfectly positioned for access to Cours Mirabeau and the rest of Aix."

  • Great apartment in great location!

"We had a wonderful week staying here! If anything the apartment is more spacious and has more storage space than appears in the photos, with good-sized closets and shelves in each bedroom and space for toiletries etc in the bathrooms. We cooked and ate several meals in the apartment and found the kitchen very well equipped, not only with pots and pans but also some spices and staples, and the dining area very cosy for family dinners. The location is excellent -- walkable to everything in the center city but also, for trips out of town, easy to reach by car and park in the garage under the apartment. Beds were super comfortable -- queens in two rooms and choice of king or two twins in the "master" bedroom. All the modern conveniences worked well -- laundry, dishwasher, etc. At least at end of December/early January, area was quiet at night, and of course we had windows closed. Good heat in each room, including towel warmers in the bathrooms. Corinne was very accommodating and helpful."

  • A Vacation Oasis

"This was the nicest vacation rental ever! My husband, adult son, and I stayed here for one full week. We had planned on a 4th person, but that didn't happen, so we had more space than needed, an unexpected indulgence. The apartment, in a 17th century building, was totally renovated recently, is luxurious and very spacious, with beautiful high ceilings, an oversized living room, generous sized bedrooms, en suite baths and plenty of storage. The air conditioning was much appreciated, as the weather was well above 90F the entire time of our visit. Downstairs was an elegant restaurant Jardin Mazarin, where we dined our first night. The owners and staff were most hospitable, food delicious. Once upstairs in the apartment we were never aware of the restaurant below. Everything was provided for comfort and utility, kitchen was fully equipped with more appliances than we needed, bathrooms were luxurious and toiletries were provided, all furnishings were tasteful and of high quality. Views from the large casement windows were of the 4 Dauphins fountain and a courtyard with koi pond below. Kim, our agent, was gracious and helpful. We were delayed arriving at the apartment, but she was waiting there to welcome us. In addition to finding us parking in a nearby garage, Kim was very helpful in suggesting restaurants, bakeries and local info. (Car rental tip: car rental agency tried to substitute a mid size Ford, but we insisted on the Renault we had booked. The larger car never would have navigated the narrow streets of Provence!) The location of this apartment is superb - just a 2 minute walk to the lovely Cours Mirabeau, where we strolled, dined, shopped the street market, and admired the local scenery. So many cafes and restaurants; we also enjoyed the hospitality and fine dining at Lavault and Le Patio. The many fountains of Aix are a unique attraction; unfortunately many of the stately Plane trees we remembered from years ago have not survived, but the replanting effort underway will someday recreate the atmosphere we loved. We found Aix well-situated for day trips to Gordes, Roussillon, Bonnieux, and Cassis (fantastic boat tour of the Calanques). Hope to return to this memorable city and apartment again and highly recommend both. Caveats are stairway which may not be suitable for those with limitations and some nighttime street noise in the front BR. A bientot Aix."
