  • Merveilleux!

"We spent a wonderful week at Les Plaines in early July 2016 and loved every minute of it. The neighborhood was a haven of peace and quiet where we heard only birdsong and the chirping of crickets. The villa was comfortable and attractively furnished in Provencal style, with a well-equipped kitchen. On two evenings we enjoyed the services of cooks that Beverly arranged. Although the weather was in the 90s (Fahrenheit), the villa stayed comfortable even in the middle of the day because of its thick stone walls, so the absense of air-conditioning was not a problem. The pool temperature was in the low 80s so we enjoyed swimming; the pool heating didn't seem to be on in July, but we didn't need it because the pool was heated sufficiently by the sun. It felt very luxurious to have a breakfast terrace AND a dinner terrace AND a sitting terrace AND a pool terrace. The thing we enjoyed the most was the fabulous, expansive view over the Luberon, which was why we chose this villa in the first place. Les Plaines has to have one of the best views in Provence. We ate most of our dinners at the villa because the view was better than at any restaurant. After dinner, as it got dark, we sat on the sitting terrace and watched the stars come out and the lights come on in the hill towns. We felt that Les Plaines was an excellent value and that it exceeded our expectations. We would definitely return."

  • A perfect hidden cottage in the heart of Lourmarin

"Amelie is all that the prospectus promises and more. Behind a flaking blue wooden door at the end of the main street in Lourmarin is a lovely little courtyard, hidden from the world outside, but just in touch with the sounds and life of this lovely Luberon town. The cottage is perfect for two people – it is a bit like the Tardis; it seems small, but all you need is cunningly tucked away and there is a big welcoming bed and many stylistic touches. There is an excellent restaurant literally on the doorstep and many more within five minute's walk, along with a boulangerie and two small supermarkets, not to mention the magnificent Friday market that almost overwhelms you with its cornucopia of produce. Half day drives will take you through the wonders of the Grand and Petit Luberon villages. Do not miss Oppede le Vieux. Meanwhile Kristine will be a most charming multilingual landlady with a wealth of local information, especially about the best places to eat. There is plenty of parking in the vicinity, but although you are almost in the heart of the town it is a haven of peace."
