  • the perfect Provençal base

"Our family of four had a wonderful week in this house. When we could drag ourselves away from the pool and garden, we were perfectly positioned to explore Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and surrounds. The photographs give you an wonderful impression of the home; but, it is even better 'in person'. The yard and pool are glorious. Our two children were delighted to have space to run and kick a ball after time in bigger cities. The house is beautifully appointed and the hosts have amazing style, evidenced in the design of the home, and the art and decor. The hosts, Nicole and Eric, communicated clearly with us prior to the trip. They gave us a warm welcome and thorough orientation to the house and pool. Communication is mainly in French (we all managed with the help of google translate). Our security deposit was returned promptly. The house is just outside the village centre. It is a short walk (~20 minutes), or there are two adult-sized bicycles available (~7 min ride). Don't miss the Wednesday morning market. Other village favourites include: Bergese (bread and pastries), Le Petit Duc (biscuits and sweet treats), Joel Durand (chocolatier), La Roma (ice cream). There are lots of local restaurants; however, we mostly opted to cook for ourselves in the excellent kitchen, making use of produce from local markets. The Intermarché supermarket has everything covered. The house is only a short drive from a number of wineries, including the excellent Domain Guilbert and Chateau Romanin. Comfortable day trips include Les Beaux-de-Provence and Carrières de Lumières (breathtaking), Albi, Vaison-la-Romain (and Fontaine de Vaucluse) ... it's an endless list."

  • A great base from which to explore La Provence.

"Sophie Cayzac's vacation apartment provides an ideal, affordable location from which to explore Arles, Avignon, and the many sights of the Provence. While its location in the village of Paradou contains just one (expensive) restaurant, it is close to St. Remy, Mausanne and other small towns with many restaurants and eateries offering that fine Provencal cuisine. We took advantage of the apartment's kitchen to prepare a number of meals, especially breakfast and dinner. A small but surprisingly well-stocked (including with local wine!) grocery store, a bakery (with delicious specialty items and those fine French baguettes) and a butcher shop (with a most pleasant proprietor greeting all customers in a sing-song voice) are just around the corner. We found all locals to be friendly and welcoming of English-speakers; in fact, many speak at least some English themselves. If we had questions, Sophie enthusiastically provided plenty of answers, especially regarding where to go and what to do. During our stay in mid-September, 2016, we followed her advice for touring the Luberon and Camargue areas and were glad we did. Sophie's apartment consists of a roomy living room and kitchen, a bedroom with large double bed and a bathroom with shower. It contained plenty of glassware, dishes and silverware, a full-size refrigerator, a four-burner cooktop, a dishwasher, a sink and all we needed to make coffee and tea. We were almost sorry that it was too warm to light a fire in that enormous stone fireplace."

  • Beautiful location; highly equipped. Fabulous stay!

"We had some travel issues picking up a rental car and were a day late arriving but our hosts were wonderfully accommodating about it. We also struggled finding the property getting very close but we had to ring to be led up the lane to the house but I think this can be improved with a slightly more detailed map as at one point we were probably only 50m away without realising. That being said this was no real issue and despite a language barrier and my shameful excuse for not speaking French very well we communicated with the hosts entire family when they showed us in. They were all very lovely and helpful and once we arrived left us to enjoy the peace and quiet and beautiful views that the property offered. Everything was perfect with regards to the location (being a 10-15 minute walk into St-Remy but fantastic rural views of the mountains, lavender, olive and vine fields), which was exactly what we wanted. We had the pool to ourselves which was an added bonus but this would have been fine to share if we'd had neighbours in the adjoining property. It's worth pointing out the steepness of the stairs to the open mezzanine floor where a bedroom is located if you have young children. we have a daughter who's nearly 3 and it wasn't actually a problem for us but the stairs are very steep and could cause an issue if someone young or old isn't particularly steady on their feet. It was only an issue for us after a few too many glasses of wine! All in all a fabulous stay and somewhere we would definitely like to come back to again for a longer stay. Thank you! Ps I didn't give 5 stars only for the map to the property and the stairs but otherwise great."

"Het vakantiehuis is gelegen in een bijzonder mooie streek. Het huis heeft een ziel en is bijzonder praktisch ingericht voor gezinnen met kinderen. Mensen van het onthaal ter plaatse zijn bijzonder vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Maar het domein kan wat onderhoud gebruiken ( vooral de tuin) wat in deze prijscategorie toch niet zou mogen zijn. Niettegenstaande hadden wij een zalige vakantie."
