  • Heaven!

"I'm sitting in gorgeous Fuschia Cottage in rural Ireland overlooking lush green Ir hills and the glorious ocean as I write this review. It doesn't get much better than this! We arrived at Fuschia Cottage to be welcomed with a basket of homemade scones, jam, brown bread and fudge - all from the award winning chefs who own and manage two of the best holiday cottages I've stayed in anywhere. Every comfort is taken care of and the place is roomy enough that seven of us don't get in each other's ways. It is spotlessly clean, well equipped and modern but the character is that of an old Irish cottage. I've been to the Burren several times from Texas and will come back again and again, hoping to rent this cottage each time for wonderful family vacations."

  • Spectacular Ballyvara House!

"Ballyvara House! What a marvelous site for a family vacation! Thirty members of our family celebrated our 59th wedding anniversary there. The rooms had all the amenities of a 5 five star hotel! The state of the art kitchen is very user friendly. The grounds are beautiful and breathtaking. Our grand kids ( from ages 13 to 33) enjoyed the soccer, the tennis, the game room - even the chess board in the lobby was never empty. The path through the fields made for a delightful and safe walk into town. We visited The Aran Islands, Dingle, Mayo (family homestead) , Galway and The Cliffs of Moher. The men enjoyed playing golf at Lahinch. A few brave souls surfed in body suits off the Lahinch beach. The Irish music at the pubs in downtown Doolin was enjoyed by all. Even the shops in Doolin were great for those of us who enjoy shopping as a sport. The dining room was most conducive not only for eating, but for telling stories and building family unity. Becky was a competent, thoughtful and pleasant host! "In short , there is simply not, a more congenial spot than here in.....Ballyvara"!"

  • For the most part, a lovely stay

"Our family of five took the trip of a lifetime to Ireland in May, 2016. We are a quiet family of two adults and three college-aged children. We enjoyed the rural location of this home. We were minutes away from the Cliffs of Moher and the town of Doolin. It was a short drive to the Burren where we enjoyed walks through the rocky landscape. We took a day trip to Galway which was a 90 minute drive. We also took a day trip to the Connemara Mountains and Kylemore Abbey which was so worth the 3 hour drive!! The home was spacious, clean and private. Nancy met us at the house when we arrived and showed us around. The beds were comfortable and the showers had fabulous water pressure and plenty of hot water. The views of the ocean and Doonagore castle were awesome from the front windows. The kitchen was well-equipped. The only problem we had with the home was the heat. It was chilly during our ten-day stay. When we arrived, the heat wasn't even on and the house was quite cold. The first level is heated with underfloor heating and the second level by hot water radiators. Nancy turned the heat on and told us it would take "20 minutes" to heat up. After several hours and no improvement, we called Thessa, the property manager. Thessa stated it would take "several hours" to heat up. Well, it was so cold the first night that my son went to bed with his coat on. It literally took about 4 or 5 days until the lower level warmed up somewhat. The upstairs hot water radiators did a good job within a few days, but the downstairs remained chilly for most our our stay. My husband spoke to Thessa several times about the heat. It didn't help that the heat was on a timer - The downstairs never had a chance to heat up. We did eventually feel the heat in the floor in the back downstairs bedroom. We never did feel any heat in the floor in the front bedroom, the dining room, the living room, or the kitchen. We suggested to Thessa that maybe the heating should be checked in those particular rooms. The kids did not even use the downstairs front bedroom because it was too cold. Instead they shared rooms upstairs. Thessa ultimately instructed us to bypass the automatic timer and keep the heat on as needed. When we returned to the states, the owner told us she was "disappointed that we used the heat so much!!" Other than the heat issue, we enjoyed the house and our stay in Ireland."
