  • Great location in a beautiful part of Ireland

"Due to a misunderstanding involving our booking, it turned out that our party only stayed at Carbury House 1 for one night. The property is absolutely charming, well-appointed, and beautifully situated with uninterrupted views overlooking the sheep's head peninsula. It is easily spacious enough for large family groups. Unfortunately, the property was not quite right for us. Eileen the property manager was extremely responsive to our needs and offered to move us to a nearby property (Ballyvonane House), which we accepted. This is a stunning property, fitted to a high spec, suitable for a party much larger than our seven, again fabulous views. The location (of both properties) delivered all the quiet and seclusion we craved, and dark night skies, perfect for star-gazing, whilst also being close to a host of good restaurants - Blair's Cove and O'Connors are a must! We wouldn't hesitate to book again."

  • Great house, great location

"We were a family with 4 small kids and 4 adults and the space inside this home was perfect. The kids all slept on the top floor in the large bedroom with a full/queen bed and 2 twins. The adults slept in the 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor. The living room had plenty of sitting/lounge space and the kitchen and dining room comfortably had space and seats for all of us. The house is nicely furnished, clean, and well-appointed. While we never met Carmen in person, she left clear notes for us in the house and was very responsive to any questions we had via the HomeAway app. The location of the house couldn't be better with easy walks (3-5 min) to Kinsale center, grocery, bars, restaurants, and the promenade along the water. It was also an easy 30 min drive to Cork, 15 min to Old Head and the beautiful beaches there, and 45 min to Midleton and the Jameson Experience. We had a wonderful stay and will try to stay here again the next time we visit. The only 2 slight issues we had were with parking as a neighbor kept parking in our spot in front of the home and street parking could be difficult to find at times. I would also agree with the earlier reviewer's comment that shades or blinds would be nice in the front bedrooms because the street light shines into the rooms at night and the curtains are not thick or dark enough to block it out."

  • Tranquil getaway spot

"We spent four relaxing nights at Marian Cottage. Everything is just as described and the cottage could not have been more warm or welcoming! Everything needed was at our fingertips and we enjoyed the house inside and out! We would highly recommend staying at one of the Houston's properties, as they are perfectly located an easy walk from the charming town of Kinsale!"

  • Totally relaxing stay with perfect views

"Had a lovely stay at this well presented house, that had everything we needed for relaxing and entertaining when friends visited. The small balcony overlooking the water was lovely to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the views. Nice walk to Dock beach, fabulous dinners at several Kinsale restaurants - Fishy Fishy - fabulous, as was Toddies & Finn's Table. Completely spoilt with selection of great eateries. There is also a great fish & chip van at the nearby bridge for take away to enjoy at home. We'll definetely be back!"
