  • Charming Country Cottage

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at Templenoe Heights. Thank you for the fine directions as it is quite hidden away, which insured great peace and tranquility. The house is immaculate with one of the best equipped kitchens we have encountered. The TV and wi-fi worked perfectly. Wh"

  • Pictures Don't Do It Justice

"Spent an awesome week here with my sister. The castle was as advertised, but the view from the top with the changing Irish skies was amazing. If you're lucky enough to catch a sunset here, you will never forget it. This vacation is not for everyone - people that have trouble getting around on their own, small children, and people that like to be close to attractions might want to skip this place. People that are reasonably fit, are adventurous, enjoy scenery and peace, and want an authentic experience - this is THE place. There are two wood-burning fireplaces (extra firewood can be carted in via a wheelbarrow from the out building, which is also where you'll find the clothes washer). The hot water tank is only big enough to support short showers (~10 min or less), so wash quickly. The kitchen floor is heated (as is the floor in the top bedroom), which was an awesome surprise after walking down two stories on unheated stairs. You will need a car at this location. The caretaker was fabulous - when we had trouble with our rental car, she was able to direct the rental company (with our replacement car) to the castle in the middle of the night (apparently providing GPS coordinates is insufficient for Sixt). She even gave us a lift into town for provisions while we were stranded. The wind often howls around the castle at night, so be prepared for the eerie ambiance that the noise can produce. It's a castle, and it feels like it with the furnishings and the candles, sconces, and lanterns that you can light. We found everything we needed in the kitchen (we cooked a nice steak dinner our last night there - thanks again Nancy!). While it's not centrally located, it's not a bad home base for investigating the Beara and Dingle peninsulas, which will upon sight give you insight into the true meaning of "breathtaking." I would highly recommend this home for the right type of vacationer. Thank you so much to the owner for sharing this property with the world! It's a one-of-a-kind experience that we will never forget!"

  • Great location in a beautiful part of Ireland

"Due to a misunderstanding involving our booking, it turned out that our party only stayed at Carbury House 1 for one night. The property is absolutely charming, well-appointed, and beautifully situated with uninterrupted views overlooking the sheep's head peninsula. It is easily spacious enough for large family groups. Unfortunately, the property was not quite right for us. Eileen the property manager was extremely responsive to our needs and offered to move us to a nearby property (Ballyvonane House), which we accepted. This is a stunning property, fitted to a high spec, suitable for a party much larger than our seven, again fabulous views. The location (of both properties) delivered all the quiet and seclusion we craved, and dark night skies, perfect for star-gazing, whilst also being close to a host of good restaurants - Blair's Cove and O'Connors are a must! We wouldn't hesitate to book again."
