  • Our first Irish Vacation

"We completely loved this house. I picked Birr based on its central location for day trips for our week there. The house was exactly as described and perfect!!! The host met us out when we arrived and was so sweet and let my dad pay for the house the day before we left. (Don't think that would happen in the states) The house had everything you may need to be comfortable for a week or more. We were able to walk the entire town. The castle was right down the street. Their B&B was lovely and she invited us in to use the Wifi. We are going back to Ireland this summer but staying on the coast this time. I would not hesitate to stay in this cottage again. You won't be disappointed!!! (We actually stayed here in August 2015, not 2016......TA would not let me go back that far)"

  • A beautifully renovated cottage full of character

"We were lucky enough to be one of the first families to stay in this beautiful, newly renovated cottage. Everything was very comfortable and of an exceptionally high standard, and the surroundings were lovely, even in the depths of winter. Carole was so helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area and there is so much to see and do. We'll definitely be back."

  • Charming cottage in a beautiful location

"My husband and I brought our mothers to visit Ireland in January. For us it was a very nice time to be there--no crowds and the countryside is beautiful even in January! Lady Rosse was so pleasant to work with on renting the cottage and very hospitable. We arrived on a cold New Year's Day and Lady Rosse and the science center staff were very helpful with the heat. It was so nice to arrive to a kitchen stocked with bread, butter, milk, coffee and tea--all the necessities. After warming up, the cottage was quite comfortable. It is charming. It had plenty of room for 4 adults and would also be great for a family with children. The castle and castle grounds are amazing. We walked through the gardens in the evenings. There are swans and ducks on the ponds and my husband even saw a hedgehog crossing the road! The location is a great home base for driving around Ireland (as we did) and would also be a peaceful getaway to stay in one place. The town of Birr is very friendly and has everything you need."

  • Fantastic Find in County Clare

"We love absolutely everything about the Coach House. The quality is first rate and the blend of old and new spot on. The photos simply don't do it justice. Jim and Annie were wonderful, often going beyond what you'd expect of gracious hosts. The grounds are beautiful any time of year and the Coach House itself is impressive. The area is beautiful and there are plenty of books, maps and pamphlets on Ireland as well as the history of the manor. From the homemade stout, brown bread, scones and wine, to the personal attention and helpful suggestions, it really is as good as it gets! We hope to be back and will certainly recommend you to our friends and family!"
