  • Beautiful!

"The house was large, spacious, and definitely easy to heat as others have said. The area surrounding the house was GORGEOUS! However, I would like to offer a word of advice - Make sure you allow more than enough time to drive the Irish roads and make it to this place before dark. We allowed a lot of time, but not near enough and ended up trying to locate this place in the dark... This is in a Dark Sky reserve, so not only are the roads difficult to manage (small, opposite side of the road for Americans, the usual), but it is VERY dark after the sun goes down (no street lights, reflectors on the road, etc.) and it will be very hard to find the house. Not only that, but you will miss seeing the beautiful area you are staying in! But that was a lovely sight to wake up to! We also traveling during non-peak season, so many of the local places were closed by 8pm. However, the Gardens right down the street have delicious Thai food! :) We traveled to Cork from here, which was a lovely drive. We also drove the Ring of Kerry, which was just breathtaking. We loved the sitting room and the fireplace, and were very comfortable in our rooms. The house is minutes from a lovely beach, which gave us an amazing sunset and some of the best photos of our trip. Overall, it was a lovely stay in the Ring of Kerry."

  • beyond expectation!

"This summer my family and I had the pleasure to stay for a number of days at the Loft,of the Priory. After camping for two and a half weeks, coming to the Priory was a real treat. What you can never read from the website is the calm atmosphere, the perfect state of the house and the garden, the feeling you are at home when you enter the driveway. Tim and Bernadette have created something exceptional. The first day we were astonished by the space, inside and around the house. In the kitchen you find everything you can think of, then there was the washing machine, the dryer , and the dishwasher, and no need to go looking for detergent. Then you find out that the bath is something like a jacuzzi, and the shower encompasses a steam bath. Then we discovered a drawer stacked with information about things to do, maps etc, and games. Our days were filled with shopping, walking in the national park, horsebackriding, and playing golf at Killarney Pitch and Putt, all within 15 min driving distance. We often went out for dinner at one of the hotels on the lakefront, and ended every day in front of the fireplace at the Loft, with a good glass of wine. The loft is the holiday retreat we can really recommend, Even our dog was fully at peace amongst the housedogs."

  • Coolcloger is a Rare Gem

"We are a large family (12, including a 6 month old and a 2 year old) that likes to travel together. Of the many amazing vacations we've enjoyed, our stay at the Coolcloger House was at the very top of our list. The website gives a mere suggestion of the delights that await Coolclogher guests. The home, minutes from Killarney, has been restored by its owners, Mary and Maurice Harnett, to its former glory, with beautiful antiques, exquisite wallpapers, and historic paint colors. The bedrooms are perfectly appointed, each with its own bath and breathtaking vistas from every room to the Kerry countryside. The beds/pillows are very comfortable, the linens fresh and white and crisp. The kitchen is very well outfitted, complete with a 6-burner Aga oven/range. There are several large gathering spaces, and multiple fireplaces, one of which was prepared for us every night. Yet, Coolcloger is not austere; every space is inviting and comfortable. We felt all week like we were at the home of some generous relative. Mary and Maurice were on hand as needed throughout our stay to advise and guide us about everything from outings, meals (she has outstanding chefs on hand who can prepare meals as desired), shopping (she drove us to her butcher and baker), and even party planning. On this last point, let me say that she orchestrated a elegant dinner at Coolclogher for my husband's birthday, which included rack of lamb, a homemade birthday cake, and live Irish music and dancing. What a night! I wanted to cry (in fact, I did cry) when we left. Our family always wants to choose a new adventure when planning travel, but we all agree we'll return to Coolclogher!"

  • What a place!

"From the moment you drive down the country lane toward the sea and turn into the driveway, your jaw drops open! Never have we seen such a home and a view. Peter is a wonderful host. The home is so well -furnished. All that you need. Very clean. We two couples especially appreciated the bedrooms on opposite sides of the house. A beautiful base to explore the Dingle Peninsula but we couldn't wait to hurry home and just take in the sea view."
