Magical and Serene

We met up with our German based family in Castleconnell. We were 3 generations (13-80 years old) and each one of us truly hated to say goodbye to Stormont House and the quaint village. Upon our arrival, Frances met us. She is a genteel and gracious person. The house had fresh flowers and a well stocked and artistically arranged bowl of fruit which the 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed. The house is spacious and airy and inviting. We all had room to spread out. Our son-in-law is an avid fisherman and he enjoyed just walking out the door to the River Shannon and doing his meditative fishing. Cos helped him with rods and bait, etc. The views are mesmerizing and the hiking trails are many. We could walk from the house into town in 5 minutes. However, the house itself felt very secluded and private.We would love to come back next Easter which is our annual reunion time with our German family. A truly special time for our family!

We truly enjoyed our stay at the farm. It was a perfect location to stay to allow you to travel all over Southern Ireland. Also, we loved getting to know Tom and Tina during our time there. They made it feel like our home for the week! The house is clean and the country surrounding it is beautiful.

What a wonderful start to our Ireland trip!

We flew into Shannon and needed a place not too far to learn to drive on the left and to recover from jet lag. This beauty looked perfect and so very Irish! We got lost initially so called Don and he stayed on the phone and talked us through town. He walked us through the house and explained any details. It’s on his farm and is just as described. Lots of tools and needed things in the kitchen. He left us butter and farm eggs in the kitchen. We slept very well, comfortable pillows, beds and sheets. Plenty of hot water. The cows were lovely and just across the road. Very peaceful and quiet. Before we left, he invited us for a cuppa and we sat in his kitchen and learned a bit about his life and family. Lovely man, really a wonderful start to our trip.

Fairytale cottage in Doon

Our stay exceeded all expectations. Tom, the owner could not of been any nicer or helpful. The cottage was well stocked. Food markets in Tipperary were close and convenient. The cottage and garden are stunning. We highly recommend staying in the cottage if you are looking for a fairytale. When we first arrived the cottage was hard to find at night, but a quick call and Tom was out with a flashlight to guide us in. What a great host.

Picture turning down a private, crushed gravel lane lined with hedges and pastures. Its just you, a cozy stone cottage, gardens and sky set back in the pasture with a forest behind that. Life slows down here. Breathe and let the cutest pair of Corgi pups come up to greet you on this 140 acre working farm. Start a log in the fireplace and have a cup of tea. This place is so secluded, we never touched our door keys the entire time we were in residence. In reality, you're just a few miles to Adare. 18 minutes from Limerick, but to you... you've just stepped through time and gone back to a simplier life long ago. I have stayed at many VRBO properties over the years, and I can honestly say, this is my #1 choice. You will become part of the family once you meet Joan, and son, David. They are attentive, willing to help you navigate how things work in the cottage and in Ireland in general. They're just a call away, or you may see them out and about working the farm. After staying 8 days with my Mother and Daughter in Ireland, and driving through Cork, Limerick, Lahinch, Dingle and Dublin, all three of us agreed on our favorite memory of our time in Ireland. It was enjoying cheese, port, sausage and fruit in the front garden outside the stone barn. How extraordinary! We had kissed the Blarney Stone, done a Dingle ocean safari, walked the Cliffs of Moher, done all the big tours in Dublin, and still - a quiet evening of sipping port outside, soaking up the blue sky view of the stone barn and adjascent thatched house had won the prize. Charming Country Cottage

A delightful step back in time while having all the modern conveniences. Cottage was renovated beautifully with every attention to detail and in keeping with its old world charm. Sonia, the owner was very friendly and accommodating. My only regret is that we didn't have more time to really enjoy the cottage in the evenings around the fire.
