  • Beautiful!

"The house was large, spacious, and definitely easy to heat as others have said. The area surrounding the house was GORGEOUS! However, I would like to offer a word of advice - Make sure you allow more than enough time to drive the Irish roads and make it to this place before dark. We allowed a lot of time, but not near enough and ended up trying to locate this place in the dark... This is in a Dark Sky reserve, so not only are the roads difficult to manage (small, opposite side of the road for Americans, the usual), but it is VERY dark after the sun goes down (no street lights, reflectors on the road, etc.) and it will be very hard to find the house. Not only that, but you will miss seeing the beautiful area you are staying in! But that was a lovely sight to wake up to! We also traveling during non-peak season, so many of the local places were closed by 8pm. However, the Gardens right down the street have delicious Thai food! :) We traveled to Cork from here, which was a lovely drive. We also drove the Ring of Kerry, which was just breathtaking. We loved the sitting room and the fireplace, and were very comfortable in our rooms. The house is minutes from a lovely beach, which gave us an amazing sunset and some of the best photos of our trip. Overall, it was a lovely stay in the Ring of Kerry."

  • Fantastic Family Base for Dublin/Ireland Vacation

"At the risk of overselling this property so it will be unavailable the next time we want to rent it, my wife and I cannot say enough positive about the place, the location and our hosts. -- As for the hosts, they were in regular communication with us before we arrived, then met us (even though it was ultra early) and showed us the neighborhood and helped us get settled. When we had a problem with an appliance, they resolved it in a blink of an eye. Couldn't have been nicer, more pleasant or better people. -- As for the property, the pictures really undersell how spacious it is for a European house. At our max, we had two couples plus 4 kids and did not feel cramped at all, plus 2.5 baths is amazing and the back porch was awesome. There were multiple rooms to chill out in with plenty of sun. -- As for the location, Clontarf is a very quiet community that happens to have grocers and 4-6 excellent "night out" restaurants within walking distance, plus a couple of excellent quicker places including an awesome sandwich shop (Kennedy's) and a chipper. The house is a block off the sea-side promenade which was amazing to walk on. Then, we could either take the bus or the DART into downtown in 15-20 minutes without any problem at all. Plus, if you rent a car, you can pop up the seaside to any of the awesome seaside towns (or take the DART there) in no time or hop on the M50 to get outside of Dublin easily. We used the house as a home base to travel to Europe and it was an easy/quick/cheap shot to/from the Dublin Airport. We couldn't have been happier with this house."

  • July in the countryside

"We were a little still on California time so our brains were not as sharp as needed to locate this home. We contacted the owner for help in locating and there was an immediate response to guide us to the house. There were only three of us, so more than ample room. We enjoyed the ever changing view out the from window. The home is well stocked with the kitchen items we needed to prepare our meals. There is a shop in the village a short 3-5 minute drive away. We would certainly recommend this is anyone coming to this area of Ireland and would book again if we return. The property was clean. Thank you, Bill, Shelley and Whitney"

  • Serenity with a view.

"My husband and I, along with several sets of friends, just returned from spending six weeks in this lovely Kells Bay home. The house was all and more than promised. Because we stayed for six weeks, we did a lot of cooking, and found the kitchen to be well equipped and comfortable to work in. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable - I especially loved the electric blanket. We used the house as our headquarters as we toured the Ring of Kerry and on one long weekend, drove to Killarney and then took the train to Dublin. Although in a remote area, we found everything we needed with minimal inconvenience. We were especially pleased to meet Pat, Amy, June and Mary at Golden's of Kells, (aka Pat's) just up the hill from the house. They served a delicious breakfast in the restaurant and supplied us with many lovely souveniers from the retail shop. John and Agnes were excellent hosts and their chickens provided us with an abundance of fresh eggs throughout our stay. Agnes' gardens are beautiful. We so enjoyed fresh cut roses, hydrangea's, etc., etc. We were surprised and delighted to also find calla lilies growing in abundance in the area - so beautiful!! Thank you Agnes and John, you've helped us to jump start a wonderful summer."
