  • Enchanting

"This enchanting house is right out of a D.H. Lawrence novel. It's tucked on a tiny quiet road; a mossy stone marker inscribed 1892 greets you as you approach along the gravel drive. The garden hosts majestic chestnut and cypress trees, with an arched tunnel of wisteria. Inhale the fragrance of lemon and olive trees or wander down the winding path lined with bamboo that leads to an very large private swimming pool nestled in a little valley. Swim and sunbathe in total privacy while across the valley you can glimpse a gorgeous old Tuscan chapel. The grounds of this property are delightful (mosquitos were a non-issue on my visit) and I recommend any guest take advantage of them. Inside the house, admire the Carrara marble sink and matching kitchen table, and the elegant tile. Enjoy the incredible craftsmanship of the generous original windows. During our visit, I slept with them open each night to enjoy the August breezes and the songs of crickets. So peaceful! Don’t expect electronically operated shutters or a TV in every room; this is not a high-tech house. But it has all the important comforts and amenities, such as a strong and reliable WiFi, and a wonderfully equipped kitchen for cooking and gathering with friends. If you're looking for the tranquility of the countryside, a spacious romantic garden in which to relax, socialize, and have your meals, and the genuine glamour of days gone by, don't miss this beautiful home."

  • Totally Charming

"Totally charmed by this delightful, clean, quiet flat in Notting Hill; story-book decorated, bright and sunny. My conversations with Emily were a delight. We took advantage of her suggestion to supply a driver for us from the airport and also to purchasing some kitchen staples. Everything was at our finger-tips, including 3 tube lines within moments and grand restaurants! There was just one problem: the hot water heater died 2 days into our stay! Not to be deterred, Emily and Sue offered us another one of their properties (even larger - again, quiet and clean, with a beautiful giant chestnut tree right outside our kitchen/dining room window), going the extra mile in providing a taxi for our move. These people are wonderful. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this property! Thank you Emily and Sue."

  • This is a very central area of Paris and the apartment is conveniently placed.

"If you want to walk to Notre Dame, or to the shops, this is a place for you. It is very simple, and gives you a taste of life in a very old, Parisian style. The restaurants, bakeries, grocery shops, fruit stands are all around, and you have the feeling of old narrow streets of the grand old days of artists and writers. You can cook or go out to eat. The hop on, hop off buses are handy and so are RER and Metro. All just great. The only draw back is that it is not for people with handicaps as there are steep stairs and the ultimate in tiny elevators. So beware if you have issues with mobility."

  • Just as good the second time around...

"We loved it the first time, and were just as happy the second. The studio itself is spacious and well equipped. We enjoy some of its features, which after many Paris rentals, we find special: the large and separate kitchen with a convenient pass-through, an easy to use washing machine, a clothes rack with clothes pins, and lots of amenities which we don't use, like TV and phone. The heading for this studio is "location, location, location," and that couldn't be more accurate: you are in the middle of a lively, safe, semi-pedestrian tourist street loaded with restaurants and stores, 1 block from the metro, and within walking distance of practically everything you wish to see. Be prepared to enter into an old building, though, with narrow spiral stairs, and a very creative way of updating the plumbing facilities: the toilet/sink is one step down from the shower: both are in the hallway. Bring a night lite because there are several steps leading up into the kitchen/bedroom. Most of all, have fun - you are right smack in the middle if the most beautiful city in the world."
