  • Just what we wanted

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very quiet and well-appointed apartment in Trastevere. We searched VRBO for hours to find such a great location, in the heart of Trastevere, that was also quiet. It was even more quiet than we expected. The apartment had plenty of room for our family of three, and very comfortable beds. It is an absolutely ideal part of Trastevere, so close to everything. Aligi was a kind and generous host, and he met us right in front of the building when our cab pulled up from the airport. We walked just a short distance in Trastevere to some of the greatest restaurants we ate at in Italy, and to the very best gelato we had anywhere - at Fior di Luna. And we were also so close to the other side of the Tiber and could walk to the Pantheon and the Colosseum. The apartment is also very close to excellent bus and tram service. It was a wonderful, peaceful apartment at which to begin our first visit to Rome, arriving exhausted straight from an all-night flight. Trastevere, like the rest of Italy, exceeded our expectations. We definitely recommend this apartment."

  • Nice Main Floor + Lower Level Apartment in Trastevere

"This apartment was in the perfect location for us - within walking distance to the American University in Rome where my son is going to school. Also within walking distance to everything Trastevere plus many, many venues just across the river. 40-minute walk to the Vatican. There are two bedrooms on the lower level as well as a double bed in the larger hall space outside the master. When the bedroom doors are closed, it is pitch black, so be sure to bring an alarm clock. I slept until 10:00 a.m. which I haven't done in thirty years. The kitchen has a nice refrigerator, microwave, small oven. We didn't do any cooking, but we did use glassware and re-heated leftovers in the microwave. Who wants to cook on vacation? Especially when in Rome where food is delish! I have only a couple of criticisms, some minor, one more major. The sofa in living room sucks. It's uncomfortable and caves in the middle. It's a hide-a-bed, but it's seen better days. The sofa in the 2nd bedroom should be moved to the living room. The other seats in the living room are just tiny ottomans, so there's really no where to sit with friends and enjoy a glass of wine. We made do, but I would overhaul the living room making it more comfortable if it were up to me. The other little things were the bathroom doorknob that fell off immediately so we just put it on the bathroom counter and didn't shut the door; the cork screw in the kitchen (the only one) had no screw in it. It was one of those with the two arms - very common. But there was no screw part of it so we just tossed it and let the manager know. There is no lamp in the living room, so for lighting you get interrogation lights or darkness. A lamp would be nice. The shelf in the shower is mounted in the middle and tips like a teeter-totter - useless. I put a colander from the kitchen in the shower and put shampoo, rinse, and soap in it.The website said there is a washer, but it has been disconnected, so be advised that THERE IS NO WASHER. I think this apartment is very nice in most ways and the negatives were not deal-breakers. The only reason I might not stay here again is that the bathroom is on the main floor and the bedrooms are down, so climbing the stairs at 3:00 a.m. is your only choice if you need to use the loo."
