  • A great time at Cate's apartment

"My family had a great time there. Cate (the owner) is extremely nice and thoughtful!!! On the day we arrived she waited for us at the shopping center near her place so we can do some food shopping and she took us to her place. . She also put some snacks, water, and yogurts for us there on the day we arrived. Her apartment is roomy (3 bedrooms and 2 full baths) and clean; every room has a beautiful view of the lake. It was much better than staying at the hotel! Highly recommend it, we wish we could stay longer :-) Thanks so much Cate!"

  • Simple flat in a beautiful location with a stunning terrace view

"Loved the flat and the location. Getting there is a little difficult as the road to the village is incredibly narrow and meeting oncoming traffic can involve tight squeezes. However, well worth the effort when you get to the top of the climb. The flat is very basic but spotlessly clean, nicely decorated in bright colors, and fairly well equipped. Best of all is the small terrace where we spent many hours. Gorgeous views over Lake Lugano and the mountains, night and day. There's nothing in the village (not even a café) except a small, though well stocked, supermarket one minute away. There’s a restaurant in the next village (which we didn't visit) but getting there is a good half hour hike up a steep hill. Beyond that there's a campsite (a 10 minute drive) which does simple but good quality food on a pleasant terrace. This is incredible value! Our family of 4 ate a two course meal (Primi and Secondi) with beers and wine for 33 Euros!! The restaurants at the bottom of the hill have good quality food, views over the lake (and prices about 3-6 times greater). Only criticism I have is that the flat claims to be for 5 people. There's a single bed downstairs (not suitable for very small children as its too isolated) and upstairs a comfortable sofa bed and a nice (though small) double bedroom. Problem is that the door frame between the upstairs rooms has come away from the wall and as a consequence you can't close the door between the rooms. This significantly reduces the privacy for both rooms. That said I would really recommend the flat - great value."

  • Tranquility and beauty to feed the soul......

"LCBR is located in a very peaceful and tranquil setting, where the senses can be soothed in the beautiful outdoor space, listening to the lake lap onto the shore and watching boats bobing gently to and fro. The garden and private lakeside bathing area are more then adequately furnished with quality furnature, where every thought has been given to guests comfort. The viletta's are clean, comfortable and nicely furnished with beautiful views over the lake from a private balcony. The kitchen has everything one may need for 'holiday' cooking and most guests prepared food indoors and would eat out at the tables provided around the garden, this had a little community feel about it. There are also barbiques in the outdoor area which we used and would recomend. We found Eric and his team to be friendly, helpful and professional. Eric has a wealth of information about the local area and was around the resort on a daily baisis to ensure that geusts had everything needed to enjoy thier holiday. Pognana Lario itself is a quiet little village, with a cafe, supermarket with butcher and one resuarant, all three can meet your needs. We frequented Peppo's Cafe and felt like locals there, it was extremely friendly offering good homecooked food at resonable prices (you can buy bus tickets from Peppo's which is cheaper than buying on bus). The supermarket was also very friendy, stocking everthing you would need. We would recommend the butcher, particulrly for barbiqueing!! Getting around Lake Como from Pognana is extremely easy; the ferry is a 5 minuite walk away and buses run frequently in both directions from outside Peppo's. We liked to take the ferry to Cernobio and then walk along the walk way (about 5K) to Como spend the day there and then take a ferry back to Pognana. A peaceful base for couples to explore Lake Como."

  • Romantic stay

"We were in Como for a wedding. Most of the activities were taking place in the Grad Imperial Hotel, which is right next door. So it was super convenient for us. The apartment is very nice and clean. Plenty of space for 2. Even though there was no A/C and it was super hot the place stayed cool because of the thickness of the walls. We were late to arrive, over 2 hours after agreed time, with no means to communicate in Italy (our cellphones did not work) and Donatella was kind enough to patiently wait for us. And we got a DVD as a go away gift from her. Super sweet. Some things could be improved: Internet did not work, which was a big pain bc we communicated with outside world via Whatapp and FB messenger. We talked to the hotel to check our messages (they have good Wifi). Shower is a tub that you have to step into, not ideal if you have issues with balance since its a little slippery. Kitchen can use more essentials, like wine glasses, kitchen towels, paper towels, spatulas, etc. Fridge is small (like those they have in the hotels), so were able to fit only few things. Regardless, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend others."
