  • Serene picture perfect stay

"We really enjoyed this VRBO vacation home! The location was picture perfect up on the side of a mountain overlooking the valley below. Spectacular views from apt 5 which is large clean well appointed. The kitchen was a perfect size met all our expectations. I really liked the wooden shutters on the windows inside which kept our room dark in the morning to SLEEP IN because we are on vacation lol Very relaxing atmosphere quiet & serene. Olive groves surrounding the entire property along with beautifully tended gardens by Enzo. My husband really enjoyed trying to converse with Enzo & was pretty successful. We were able to use the pool and enjoyed spending time with other guests in the media room. Simone was very helpful in meeting all our needs! A huge thank you to Simone for all his efforts😀򐀊With this location it was easy to reach so many wonderful villages, wineries, and of course major tourism sites. The village of Castlefranco Di Sopra was friendly & we visited regularly for all our food supplies, and such. Loro Cuffino is just one of dozens villages to make a must see with a fantastic waterfall , working flour mill and wonderful restaurant "al Torre". Yes we would love to return here!"

  • Charming house with beautiful setting!

"My husband and I are finishing up our 2 week stay at La Colonica and could not be more pleased! You can walk into the small village of Marciana Della Chiana to eat, but the setting behind a gate feels as if it is in the middle of the country. There are many places to sit and relax outside and it is beautiful with the olive grove and hills in the distance. The house is well furnished, clean and comfortable; we had another couple stay with us and you each have your own bedroom and bath. When we arrived there were fresh cut flowers and a bottle of red wine and one of white wine left for us. David acquainted us with the house and gave us notes for many different trips, walks and restaurants in the area. The location was great to visit Tuscany and Umbria. All in all, this has been a wonderful vacation and we will hope to return to La Colonica!"

  • Lovely home and setting -- and the owners made it a fabulous stay!

"My wife and I stayed at Borghetto Calcinaia for more than a week in late October / early November. We enjoyed it immensely and couldn’t recommend it highly enough! The location is very convenient to area sightseeing, situated between Anghiari (8 minutes drive) and San Sepolcro (maybe 12 minutes), suitable for day trips to Citta di Castello, Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio and Urbino (all of which deserve at least a day trip). Don’t miss the closest - the medieval town of Anghiari — which is a largely untouched small town with few tourists. We also drove 5 minutes to start a nice walk on a gravel road along the Tiber River that feeds the lake. There is other hiking available in the area, too. The historic buildings have been beautifully rehabbed for modern living. The main guest house has a fully equipped kitchen with a full-size fridge, powerful gas cooktop and electric oven, and dishwasher, as well as a very good supply of pots, pans, and cooking gear, which we happily used daily as we prefer to cook our own meals. A lovely herb garden is also provided just outside the door for use by guests, featuring thyme, rosemary, sage, mint, oregano, parsley, chives, tarragon, a large bay tree, and some others I can’t remember. (There is also basil earlier in the season). The washing machine and clothes drying rack and clothesline were also very handy. Dennis and Gilly have created a beautiful landscape and gardens that seem to go on forever, including a large olive grove, numerous other fruit trees, an herb and flower garden, and fields of grasses and wildflowers, all artfully arranged. The views from the patios outside the main guest house, as well as the upstairs bedrooms, focus on the olive groves, hillsides, pool and garden. The ancillary guest houses feature wonderful views of Lake Montedoglio from their living room or patio. The property offers complete privacy, situated on a hill down a gravel road with no neighbors in sight. What made our stay most enjoyable, by far, was our delightful interactions with our gracious hosts, Dennis and Gilly. They were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and ready to offer insights into local culture. They pointed us toward the best local providers of wine and organic produce, and made sure we knew when each city was holding a fair we should see. They always respected privacy, but were only a door knock away if needed. Our daily discussions with them made the whole experience fun!"

  • Fabulous place

"I was visiting for two nights with my wife and adult children and we all loved the place. The apartment was spacious, very clean and well presented. The outside space down by the wine bar is fabulous and the staff were excellent. I can't recommend this place too highly. My only issue is that there needs to by wifi available in every apartment rather than just the public spaces."
