  • Charming Tuscan Farmhouse

"My 12-year old daughter and I stayed at La Padronale, one of about 5 apartments at Molino le Gualchiere, a farm near Arezzo, for a week with my sister and her family. Our unit was in the upstairs of what I assume is the old farmhouse. There are 3 very spacious bedrooms, 1 with a king bed, 1 with a queen bed and 1 with two twin beds. The king room had a private bathroom. There is another full bathroom near the twin room, and the queen room had a sink and small shower (but oddly no toilet). The kitchen is spacious and we found that it was well equipped after exploring all the cabinets. There is a gas range and a dishwasher, as well as the original stone sink and a small modern sink. The only drawbacks in the kitchen were poor lighting and not enough glasses for anything but wine. The living and dining area was spacious and comfortable; there were two large sofas in the living room. All the floors are tiled. The unit was very clean when we arrived, but there is no daily servicing. There is no air conditioning, but the heavy shutters and thick stone walls kept the house cool during the heat of the day, and we could let the cool evening breeze into the house with screened windows and the large door at the terrace. We spent most of our time on the terrace, where there was a seating area with wood chairs and a dining table and chairs, both in the shade. The property has a nice pool that was very clean and is shared by all the guests. There are laundry facilities available to guests. The property manager, Claudia, is there every morning and to greet newly arriving guests. She was very helpful and made restaurant reservations for us, as well as providing information about the area, such as where to catch the train into Florence (a 37m ride on the express service). The complex is in the river valley outside Loro Ciuffenna, down a long windy one-lane driveway. Loro Ciuffenna is a small town spanning a gorge over the river with a few good restaurants and little shops selling food, wine, bread, gelato, etc. There is a market in the old part of town on Monday mornings. The new part of town has a small supermarket, gas stations, etc. This is a great location for exploring Tuscany, being only 15 min off the Autostrada between Arezzo and Florence; Chianti is about 20 minutes away, Siena is an hour drive, and Florence is a quick train ride. We really enjoyed our stay at La Padronale and would recommend it for an authentic Tuscan country experience."

  • Grande demeure et propriétaires très sympathique

"On presque comme chez des amis, tout est à dispositions pour rester quelque jours sans s'encombrer de bagages, idéal pour un week-end prolongé pour visiter Florence et sa région"

  • Excellent frame for a great family holiday

"In this case the pictures didn't lie. Everything was as nice as the pictures had shown. We are a three generation family of 18, so it is difficult to find houses for our biennial holidays that are big enough. This one was, lots of space both inside and outside, very comfortable and with a beautiful garden and a large pool and a stunning view of the countryside. A very nice welcome and help for organizing wine tasting and other possible tours. However we stayed in the house and on the premises for most days enjoying the games available, the pool and the view. Only constraints are that some of the rooms get very hot when it is 38 degrees outside and the last part of the road leading to the house which is a bit challenging. Highly recommended for big families or groups as you have the whole villa and garden to yourselves."

  • Review for stay from 23 July 2016 to 30 July 2016

"This was a lovely place to stay! The apartment was clean and comfortable and very spacious. In fact it felt more like a house. The pool was really very good and with fantastic 360 views. Close to Rignano, it was easy to get to Florence by train. It was quite close to a major road - not in terms of danger for children, but noise and a major rail line, however this didn't bother us unduly. A perfect place to relax."
