  • This apartment was very pleasant

"This apartment was very pleasant, with the definite advantage of air conditioning. Daytime temperatures around 40 celsius. Centrally positioned at the end of Ponte Vechio. Fabio and his father were most helpful."

  • Fabulous Florence a Footstep Away

"Location was a pleasant surprise. (The VRBO Map proved incorrect). Would definitely recommend to our friends and would happily return to in the future. Right on the Piazza Signoria across from the Ufizzi Gallery which was buzzing each night, and yet the apartment itself was quiet as it backs onto the side street. Lorenza was a great hostess, looking after all our needs. Bed was comfortable and everything met our needs. Great restaurants near by and a perfect location from which to explore Florence by foot. (Skylight is visible from the Duomo!) Only snag was the washing machine which we couldn't quite figure out as to how to work it - it wouldn't stop unless forced to using the spin cycle directly. So if you're planning to use suggest you get instructions in advance!"

  • Charming villa in fantastic location

"Villa Berni is as described just outside Florence with a stunning view of the city from the Tower Bedroom. The garden is lovely to relax in during the day and the whole setting is wonderfully peaceful and rural. The pool whilst not large is great for a cooling dip after a hot day seeing the sights in Florence. We were a party of 4 couples, my wife and I and our 3 grown up children with their partners. The villa was plenty spacious enough, we could easily have catered for more! We hired a car in Pisa and drove over to the villa; I would say a car is essential as the supermarket is a few kms down the hill so lugging heavy shopping back up the hill in relatively high temperatures would not have worked for us, without a car. However as there were 8 of us arriving at different times, we also made use of Marco Berni's minibus service. He was great, taking us almost up to the door of the leaning tower of Pisa, also to Siena, Lucca, San Gimignano and my favourite of all, a wine-tasting at Castello di Verrazzano. He was very interesting to talk to about Tuscan life and very patient on the night we ended up waiting for him in the wrong square in Florence! Again as described the bus service into Florence from the bottom of the hill is reliable and the youngsters used that as a means of doing their own thing in the city. We also experienced the wonderful Tuscan cooking of Mina, Marco's mother, to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. It was delicious! We also had a Sicilian meal prepared for us which was also quite a treat. Any downsides....only the mosquitoes, so have some insect repellent handy; otherwise I would heartily recommend this villa as we had a marvellous holiday there."

  • A quiet respite in Florence

"We loved the location of Olivia apartment! It was just enough out of the congestion of the touristy area of the city to provide a pleasant break at night. We enjoyed exploring the Oltrarno quarter. We attended Mass in the basilica a short walk away and had the bonus to see a crucifix carved by Michelangelo at age 17. We also observed the art of carved block print at a small gallery on our street. The apartment was small, but four of us were quite comfortable for our stay. Our greeter provided a wealth of information that we used throughout our stay. I even learned how to make "Italian" coffee! My advice to those staying like a local. Pack light the stairs are challenging with heavy luggage, but that does not stop me from recommending this as a wonderful spot to stay in Florence. Perhaps our favorite discovery was a family run restaurant about a 20 minute walk from the apartment. It was called Trattoria Pandehohio. We would recommend it highly. Thank you for a lovely stay in your apartment."
