  • Spacious, smart apartment - great location

"An amazing apartment - spacious, well equipped in a great location on a hill outside Lastra with wonderful views in the middle of olive groves. It has a super swimming pool, again with wonderful views. Near the train station (free parking) with regular, cheap trains to Florence €5 return. Ideal for visiting Siena, San Gimignano and other site seeing places in Tuscany. Our host was so kind and generous - lots of local knowledge. He even took us out to an organic farm to buy oil olive - the trip out showed us even more of the Tuscan countryside. Breathtakingly beautiful. We then went to buy organic wine from a small local producer who gave us a tour of his vines and cellars. Our holiday was lovely and we were made to feel so at home by our kind and hospitable host. Highly recommended house for a great holiday. Thank you Fabio x"

  • Wonderful villa outside of Florence for any stay

"Our group of 8 stayed in Villa Calcinaia and had a wonderful time. Our host Paola couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. She welcomed us with a light supper and helped us plan our time in the Florence and Tuscany area. We didn't have a car so she connected us with a driver who provided transportation to and from the Lastra al Signa train station and Florence as well as day trips to a variety of Tuscany villages. If you don't have a car you'll need to hire transportation as the Lastra train station is approximately a 20-30 min. walk down the hill. The train to Florence takes only 15 min. Our group rented the 4 bedroom apartment that had 4 separate bedrooms with their own individual bathrooms. We had 2 common areas we shared for meals etc. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything you could need - we mostly used it for breakfast and light suppers after a long day of touring. The bedrooms were comfortable and cozy and we enjoyed staying in this typically rustic but charming Italian villa. There is a small market down the road that you can walk to and a larger market in town for picking up essentials. A very nice restaurant - EdyPiu - is just around the corner and we ate there several times and had great food. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Italy and it was enhanced by our stay at Villa Calcinaia - I would strongly recommend it to anyone traveling in the area."
