  • THE best in Lucca

"We had a wonderful time at Bruno and Iliria's apartment overlooking the Anfiteatro. The apartment is very comfortable with all of the amenities that we could have hoped for. The small touches were the ones most appreciated; coffee, tea, sugar, oil, vinegar and especially the umbrellas! This was the 4th stop on our Italian holiday – and although the other apartments were also very good, none provided those “little extras”. It’s the little things that count the most when you're far away from home. We found Lucca ideal for our day trips to Pisa and the Cinque Terre, and the city itself is captivating in many ways. We could easily have stayed within 100 meters of the walls of the Anfiteatro, everything we needed was close by. Wonderful restaurants (especially L’Angolo Tondo) fantastic gelato, good shopping, all within a few minutes’ walk. We couldn’t have asked for better. Sitting on the window sill as the sun sets and the lights around the Anfiteatro come to life one by one, with a glass of prosecco in hand is the best way to end a day – we will remember our time in Lucca with great affection."

  • a beautiful and homely villa in the Tuscan hills with stunning views to the sea

"This lovely property of 5 good bedrooms was a superb place for our ( extended ) family to stay in Tuscany. Bedrooms all good sized and comfortable. Kitchen was very well fitted out and we could dine inside in a pleasant dining room, outside under a shady trellis on on the terrace - spoilt for choice. There was also a cot for a bay and washing and ironing facilities - very practical for so many of us ! No-one needs to worry about drying clothes in summer I may add with the beautiful weather we had. The villa has air-con in most of the villa which was great, and the wi-fi worked well and stretched to the gardens and pool, which made it very useful for music / internet browsing / game playing. The gardens and setting with the house being up in the hills was stunning and very picturesque. The pool was lovely with sunbeds and deck chairs and it was truly amazing to while away the hours sunbathing or playing games in the pool. It was lovely to listen to music on the wi-fi whilst reading and enjoying a Moretti or Chianti ! The local village is very nice, with a great local supermarket well stocked and well priced - a great deli counter. Totally recommend the local Buratta mozzarella and pesto from the deli. The village also has lovely bars and restaurants and pizza parlours. We made the lost of the excellent food and wine on offer there. Wider afield the local seaside is only 25 mins drive away and very pretty and pleasant. Bicycling around is great fun with the necessary drink and food stops of course ! There's the towns of Lucca, Firenze and Pisa of course ... so plenty of day trips possible if you wish. Plus the local hills around the villa is just beautiful for walks and rambles. All in all we had a great holiday and will certainly look to come back. Marino and Sylvia looked after us well and were very helpful whenever we asked questions. Just a shame life has to get back to normal now ! Robert Rowbotham ."
