"Overall: The house was exactly as depicted on the site. Well appointed, spotlessly clean, a well equipped kitchen, and lovely rooms with views. Enjoyed Most: The terrace with superb views, and en suite bathroom with every bedroom. Enjoyed Least: The driveway down was appalling, little more than a dirt track, steep, rutted and stony. Our basic rental cars really struggled to drive up there every day, and for the quality of the house itself, the drive is unacceptable. We also felt that the pool area was unfinished, as you had to step off the terrace and walk on the gravel path to reach it. A paved path or steps would join it better to the house as a whole. Surrounding Area: The towns of San Gimignano, Volterra, and Radda were lovely to visit, but go and park early, by 8:30 AM, before all the tourist coaches arrive and swamp the place. The same with Florence and Siena, beautiful places, but full of people. Nearby Events or Locales: The closest town, Castellina in Chianti, had everything we needed, shops, Coop, restaurants, chemist, ice cream parlour! And, it was very pretty to walk around and have a drink. It was a few minutes drive away. Tips or Restaurants: Tre Porte Resaturant in Castellina was a great family favourite. Drive a fairly powerful car! Spend lots of time relaxing at the villa. Everything is provided, you only need groceries, fantastic. Directions: Directions were clear. It's easier to find coming from Castellina, though. From Florence Airport, set GPS for Castellina in Chianti, then drive through the town following signs for Siena. Opposite the Gelateria, ice cream parlour, take the 51 to Castellina Scalo, and the second turning left gets you onto the dirt track to the house. It's a 45 minute drive in all. Check In Out: Natalia was extremely helpful with advice. She had the house ready early and kindly let us know so that we were installed by 2 PM. We also were allowed to leave later as no one was coming that day. It really helped our trip. She kept in touch the whole time and made us feel valued."

  • Beautiful farmhouse apartment in stunning location

"The house was beautifully restored and set in spacious grounds. The pool was lovely, with plenty of loungers and a hammock. We made good use of the ping pong table in the barn (which could do with a couple of new bats) and we also borrowed the bikes. The nearby train track wasn't a problem - the trains weren't too frequent and they didn't disturb us. Romina and Roberta were friendly and made us feel very welcome. The apartment was clean and spacious with comfortable beds and plenty of towels. A few more cups and glasses would have been helpful for our family of five. We were glad of the mosquito nets over the windows in the evening. The area is very remote but the beautiful old towns of Cortona, Castiglione del Lago and Montepulciano were around 30 minutes drive away."

  • Beautiful home and view

"We loved our stay at Capanne. We stayed for 5 nights and were awestruck every morning by the view out of every window. The house is down a long dirt road and very secluded and quiet, surrounded by olive trees and with spectacular views to Montelpuciano. At the same time, it is an easy drive to Montelpuciano, Pienza and other hilltowns. We wish we could have stayed longer! The town of Montefollonico is a nice long walk or a short drive away. I lovely little walled hill town with a couple of very nice restaurants and a grocery store, as well as a ceramic store. We had dinner out twice and both meals were fantastic. The house itself is lovely and full of character. Very lovingly furnished and maintained. The housekeeper is very helpful with the check in and stopped by every day. The owner, MIchele, checked in on us several times, including the day we arrived and made sure that we had dinner reservations in town that night. He also was very responsive when we lost power one night. He and his family made us feel very welcome, even inviting us to join them for dinner when we were in Rome a week after our stay at Le Capanne. The house is well-equipped with updated baths and a lovely small kitchen, that is very manageable for cooking dinners. As the house is in the country, there are some bugs around, esp. ladybugs, but that added to the charm of the home. We would highly recommend Le Capanne for anyone who wants a quiet, tranquil stay in the heart of Tuscany. We hope we can visit again someday!"

  • Very, very nice!

"My wife and I spent five nights in this Montisi home. It is better than the pictures. The furnishings and fixtures are all top notch. Even the kitchen knives are sharp. The laundry with a dryer is a rare find in Italy. If you think you would like small town Tuscany, you should consider Casa Parva. Antonella is a wonderful hostess. You should be comfortable with stairs, however."
