  • Winter Stay in Perugia

"We spent a week in this apartment in hilltop part of Perugia in early December and found the apartment and location optimal for our explorations of Umbria. As the other review stated Fabio was welcoming and provided wine and fruit. The weather was 38 to 55 degrees F. We may have been the only tourists in Italy and the Italians seemed more natural when compared to our previous summer-time visits. We found the hot water and heating system to be very good. The bed was extremely comfortable, the living room pretty and relaxing, and the kitchen with table to be adequate for most needs. There is a desk for writing and organizing. Guidebooks and maps of the area are left in the apartment. The apartment is on the first floor and since our previous stay was in a Cinque Terra look-out, up 138 steps, the lower floor was appreciated. There is no view, but there are several windows for light and ventilation. The apartment is in an extremely old, all stone, portion of the city, within the city's defensive walls. It is located at the end of the city nearest the city plaza where the taxi, bus, and parking connections are located. The universities are at the other end of the old city. Perugia is quite a large city and the wall-in old town is quite large too compared to Assisi, Montepulciano, and the Tuscany towns. Perugia has to be the most difficult city I have ever driven in. Long one-way hill-side streets sprouting off of 7-exit round-abouts means that you will drive for miles trying to find your way back, even with a GPS. But we hung in there after renting a car for a few days to visit Cortona, Assisi, and Montipulciano. The new town area of Perugia is mostly business oriented. The train station where the rental car offices are located easily accessed via the mini-metro. The clothes and gift shopping in old-town Perugia is high-end. The city hall, town square, and church are impressive. There are 2 Coop type food stores close by. There are a few expensive restaurants and many low and medium end restaurants catering to students. Many Kodak-moments in Perugia: especially the sunsets viewed from behind the City Plaza, and the stone buildings, city walls, and staircases. Fabio was appreciative of our comments and genuinely wanted to keep the apartment at high standards for future visitors. He even dropped us off at the train station--a welcomed end to a great stay."

  • Fabulous villa in lovely Umbria.

"We are two families and rented the house in the photos which is actually two mirrored properties, beautifully laid out inside, spacious and cool with the AC. The beds are comfortable. The pool is shared with people in flats in another property on the site but never felt crowded. Michele was a very attentive and helpful host. He had lots of tips for restaurants and sight seeing. We loved sitting outside in the evening having dinner as the sun set over the surrounding vineyards. The Property is quiet and perfectly situated for exploring northern Umbria. Assisi and Orvieto are superb. There is a well stocked local supermarket in the town. Most mornings we drove to a lovely café in the centre of nearby Casa del Diavolo for breakfast. Highly recommended!"

  • Nice, Peaceful Stay near Assisi

"This was a very nice apartment that was spacious and clean for 5 people. We stayed in the upstairs unit. The location was great. Only 5 minutes from Assisi and 3 minutes from San Damiano Church and a short drive from the other major sites in the area. It was very peaceful away from the hussle and bussle. Only drawback was just having one bathroom for 5 people and no dryer but I understand that is a premium commodity in Europe. We also could not get the stove to work, but it was not a big deal. The owners provided good directions and met us on arrival with good coordinating. They only take cash so have it on hand if you stay here. Nice location. Among the best we stayed at during our 15 day trek through Italy. I would recommend this apartment."

  • Our 5 days in Beautiful Perugia

"A small but quaint apartment, situated on the 3rd floor (but 4th floor by North American standards - up 50 steps)It is very well equipped with an updated kitchen and bathroom. Well situated for visits in Perugia which is a beautiful medieval city, very clean with many high end shops. The city is hilly you must be in shape to stay here but it is worth it! Lots of restaurants. Emanuele was very helpful to meet us and help us settled, carrying our luggage upstairs, showing us where to park, it is very scarce and at a premium!! He also made some suggestions of places to visit and eat. We had his phone # if we ever needed to reach him and he assured us it was ok to call him anytime. Kathleen & Ronaldo, Canada"
