  • Delightful apartment in Panicale

"Il Podesta is so charming, almost as charming as the wonderful village of Panicale. The apartment is well maintained and equipped. Comfortable bed with a lovely balcony off the living room, great place for coffee or a glass of wine. This was our 5th visit to Panicale and being in the walls of the old city in such a beautiful place really makes the visit complete. A week is not enough to enjoy the town and the proximity to Tuscany and Umbrian highlights. We would definitely stay at Il Podesta again. And of course we plan to keep returning to this delightful town with its wonderful people, restaurants and shop owners."

  • A wonderful month in Orvieto

"My husband and I spent an idyllic month in this apartment in Orvieto. Susan, Mandy, and Victoria were friendly, helpful, and responsive. We loved the apartment itself - it looks even better than the photos if that is possible - and we thoroughly enjoyed our time in the town. I did a lot of cooking and found the kitchen to be well equipped - we especially enjoyed the cappuccino maker. The apartment was roomy and the furniture and bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the four sets of french doors and spent a lot of time relaxing on the small deck out back. The location is excellent - everything is in walking distance (shops, bakery, the Duomo etc). We had a car for part of the month but we spent most of our time relaxing in Orvieto itself. We parked in the free lot at the base of the funicular and my husband would take the funicular down to pick up the car whenever we decided to go out of the city. There is paid parking close to the apartment but we didn't feel we needed the access. The wifi was excellent although there was one week when it was down due to a service provider problem (that's Italy for you - there was nothing the hosts could do to resolve it). There were stairs to reach the apartment which was fine by us but might be a problem for people with mobility issues. We stayed in Orvieto for the month of June and the apartment was comfortably cool until the last week when it got quite hot. Victoria gave us fans which were helpful, but please note there is no a/c so it may be quite warm inside during the summer months, even with the windows open. My husband and I would definitely love to come back and spend a month in the fall some year."

  • Mountain retreat

"Attractively furnished and in a good location in the Apennines 400m above the Umbrian plain, this spacious house has a long garden with views of the wooded hillside. The house is full of interesting antique furniture and a basic kitchen for quick meals. We received a warm welcome from a helpful host and took the opportunity to relax in the sunny garden between visits to the lovely hilltop towns and villages of Umbria. The house will be even more attractive after July 2016 when all traffic is diverted into a new tunnel and highway- ensuring tranquility. Ponte St Lucia is only a small hamlet but has a convenient shop/deli/bar 100m from the house."
