  • Spacious, quiet villa with beautiful garden and pool

"This is the most spacious two bedroom villa we have ever stayed in. It is approached down a long private drive behind wrought iron gates and is a far cry from high density holiday flats. I would give 5 stars for everything except the beds. They are only averagely comfortable, with slight pressure points, with the exception of the third bed in the second room, which has beech slats that move with your body, and a quilted-top, foam mattress that you just sink into and no pressure points. I slept very well in this one, but not so well in the divans. Everything has been thought of so the kitchen is well equipped; I particularly liked the electric citrus juicer. The orchids on the sills were lovely. There were dishwasher tablets, washing powder and conditioner under the sink, which always helps to make you feel at home. The shower is amazing; the water pressure is so good that you can have the drench shower head on with the hand held shower head, plus the body jets! The conservatory furniture is really comfortable and with the sliding windows open it is a great place to relax with a view of the wonderful garden, that we never got tired of looking at. The fig trees and flowering shrubs held good birds too for us to add to our holiday birding list. I have such happy memories of our peaceful holiday here, breakfast at the table by the pool, soaking in the warm jacuzzi every afternoon when we returned from exploring the area; (amazing beaches and restaurants under 10 minutes drive, and great bird watching hotspots), followed by a swim in the gorgeous pool. The traffic from the nearby road is surprisingly unobtrusive (except on Sunday afternoons), and I am unusually sensitive to traffic; and can be completely shut out at night by the double glazing. So I felt this was a peaceful, quiet and undisturbed holiday home with very good sized gardens and large attractive pool, for our exclusive use. The night sky from the roof is amazing! Maren, the friendly and helpful owner, uses a cleaning robot at night in the pool, so as not to disturb us with cleaning tasks. She brought us a map of a shop location that we had been asking about. There are one or two cats about and two lovely older dogs, plus a couple of puppies, but they are only around when Maren is with them. Be aware that there are three sets of steps to get to the pool but no hand rails. We rarely visit the same place twice, but would be tempted to return here!"

  • Amazing Villa, Stunning location, real family holi

"From the moment we contacted John to arrange the booking we received nothing but excellent advice, support and help in arranging what was to turn out to be one of the best holidays we have ever had. The Villa itself is in a perfect location with uninterrupted views of stunning landscapes. The cleanliness and overall feel of the villa was second to none, Carmo the housekeeper had even got us in some food and tea as we were arriving late. The pool was fabulous and we loved finding the secret cupboard with all the inflatables - great fun had and were an fabulous addition to our Pool Olympics family tournament. The resort was superb, the restaurants - particularly Vincencino's were lovely, very friendly and food was amazing. It's a fabulous location to visit nearby Salema - brilliant beach and great wave jumping (even if the current is a little strong!), gorgeous little shops selling traditional Portuguese wares but make sure you book for restaurants there! It's no more than a 45 minute drive to a fab water-park - Slide and Splash and a full day out with the family. The Monchique mountain visit was out of this world - about an hour drive and lots of incredible views as you drive through the mountain range. With so much to do in the area the two weeks were almost not enough as we interspersed visits with relaxing days at the villa in the incredible sunshine. You definitely need a car for this holiday to make the most of where you are. Overall 5 stars isn't enough to express what a fabulous time we had, what an incredible villa this is and how lovely John is. We would definitely recommend and have done to our friends and family. We'll see you soon John as we will definitely be back."

  • Casa dos Duquinhos is a wonderful oasis

"Casa dos Duquinhos is a wonderful oasis in the Salema area. The villa is perfectly situated; at about a 5 minute walk close to the center of Salema and Salema Beach. We had the most relaxing holiday with our family here. The villa is spacious and accommodates our group of 10 people well. The 2 apartments provided lots of privacy. Every bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. The outside dining areas are lovely with wonderful ocean views. The local village of Salema has some fantastic restaurants. Restaurant Aqua na Boca was our favorite! It also has two small supermarkets and a cosy caravan bakery, so you don't have to go too far for shopping. We would highly recommend Casa dos Duquinhos for a holiday and really hope we can go back with my family again sometime soon."
