  • Wonderful Two Week Stay @ Pilrig House!

"My husband and I stayed in the Garden Apartment at the Pilrig House for two weeks at the end of July and the beginning of August. The apartment was so spacious, modern and spotlessly clean, supplied with everything one could possibly need or want. Debbie and Philip are wonderful hosts - very knowledgeable about the area/attractions & transportation. It is about a 1/2 hour walk to city center but this was not an issue for us. Bus routes are very close by as well as local grocery stores. It was nice to come back to the quiet area of Leith and the apartment to get a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were so happy with our accommodation and would definitely recommend the Pilrig House to family and friends!"

  • Perfect Place to Stay!

"What you see in the photographs is exactly what you get. This apartment was just perfect for our three day stay. It was extremely comfortable, well equipped with everything we could possibly want and the bathroom was just fabulous with plenty of hot water and lots of fresh towels. Since we had a car, free parking was of paramount importance and the lockup garage downstairs was just perfect. It is in a very good location within walking distance of the Royal Mile and local bus transportation. Communication prior to arrival was excellent and the instructions to access the garage and flat were concise and easy to follow . Gordon was very accommodating in shipping some items to us that we had left in the cupboard upon our departure. All in all, a great experience and I would highly recommend Gordon's flat to anyone looking for a place to stay that feels like a home away from home."

  • Great Flat. Awesome Location

"We stayed in this Edinburgh flat for almost a week, and loved it! Felt like home. Beautifully appointed; nicely laid out for our family of three. Comfortable bed and pull-out couch. Quiet residential neighborhood, but only a 10 minute walk to the heart of downtown and the historic sites. The kitchen had everything you could need. The bathroom was clean and nice; great shower! Everything was modern, updated and clean. Only recommendation for improvement is a better washing machine (faster and more efficient). Besides that we loved the flat and would rent again in a heartbeat! Thank you Jackie, for helping to make our visit to Scotland memorable."

  • A wonderful warm and inviting great Scotish residence for a large family or group with every amenity

"Our time in Scotland was truly enhanced by our accommodations and knowing we were coming HOME to a great place after long days exploring. The closeness to transit down 3 blocks away, aswell as being a nice 20 min saunter up to Princes street, Waverly Train station and a few more minutes up to the Royal mile made our adventures more than easy. Or going on the Stockbridge area and meandering 20 mins to the wonderful Botanical Gardens! The creature comforts and extras supplied by the wonderful owners of the Upper Villa iced the cake - from having tea, coffee some spices, sugar, including having milk, bread, butter, cheese and basic sundry items for laundry were greatly appreciated. As well as the flowers in the entry way, the terrific information guides, and the openness to answer our questions or print off our boarding passes bring highest Kudos from this Canadian Family of 7. One suggestion might be the investment in a slow cooker so when out and about supper is done when the group returns. Being close to several small grocery shops as well as numerous specialty shops for cheeses, wines, the butcher and take out shops for fast food also lent itself to being a great area to stay in. Having the Drying rack in the Kitchen or as it was dubbed by our teens "the torture rack" worked fabulously to get clothes dried. The spaciousness to allow for the whole group to eat supper at the table or spread out when it was down time worked really well with the Old folks & teenagers. The ambiance of the upper villa, knowing it had years and years of history and the unique Scottish architecture truly lend to the adventure in Visiting Scotland... Thank you so much for giving us a great stay Rona!!! We will recommend you to all our friends and family and hope to return in a few years. Suellen & Victor Larsen , Jennifer & Scott Guitard and Boys."
