  • Lovely cottage

"We have just had a lovely week staying at Easter Duthil. The cottage is newly renovated and has been done beautifully providing a cosy and comfortable place to stay in the fantastic surroundings of the Spey Valley. It was perfect for our children (3 years and 11 months) as had been childproofed well and they could race around safely. Emma and Rory were very welcoming and even brought over extra toys to keep the kids entertained. The cottage is situated on the edge of a working farm, with only the occasional 'moo' to disturb the peace and is ideally located for the wide range of walks and activities that the highlands are so well known for. We look forward to coming back again next year!"

  • Very enjoyable stay in Grantown-on-Spey

"Very nice place to stay if you want to visit Speyside. Grantown is a lovely little highland town and has all the amenities you would expect. The cottage was very well appointed except for the very small bathroom. I am fairly tall and found the shower very small, leaving me unable to soap myself in the actual shower cubicle(the reason for four stars instead of give); apart from that, it was extremely comfortable accommodation. Very comfortable beds and living space; complete with all the kitchen equipment you could possibly want. We booked it to take advantage of the fishing that is available on Speyside and we weren't disappointed in the least. I would recommend the "But-an-Ben" to anyone thinking of making Grantown-on-Spey or Speyside their central location for a holiday. The listing description was very accurate and the property was very clean and tidy with everything you could want; the owners even left us a basket of "goodies" as a welcome gift. Would definitely book again."

  • Lovely cosy cottage in friendly village

"We had a wonderful start of the year in the cottage. It is very cosy and complete. Furniture and fittings a bit outdated but everything worked well. Considering the price you pay you get a lot of comfort and facilities. There are thermostat controlled radiators in every room and there is a very nice multifuel stove, so we we're nice and warm even in the winter. Facilities very complete, including bedlinnen, towels, soap, cleaning products, wood and coal for the stove, kitchen towels, cling film, pepper & salt, and so on. Also a large fridge and freezer, a washing machine and dryer. All you need to bring yourselve is your toothbrush and shampoo. The cottage was very clean, allthough the extraction hood could benefit from some more attention. There is no wifi, but good 3G reception. The bed was allright but had a dimple in the middle and was therefore maybe at end of life we felt. Owner is living a few houses further down the road and very friendly and attentive. Some whisky and shortbread were offered for welcome, how nice is that! Tomintoul is a small but very charming village with a good pub at the Avon Hotel and a store village which sells the basic every day groceries. Very beautiful surroundings for touring, walking and of course there are some very nice whisky distilleries to visit. Nice villages to visit (and drive to) are Braemer, Ballatar and Aberlour. All in all we had a really good time and highly recommand this cottage. We certainly will be back!"
