  • great location, excellent guidance to exploring Barca and surrounding area

"Just back from July 2016 week staying in Valentin's El Ravel area apt with my 3 teen aged sons and my father. We had an excellent time and walked or took the Metro (subway) all over. The apartment is well located on a pedestrian street just a block from La Rambla and 2 blocks from Plaza Catalunya and Plaza Universitat and their Metro stops. There are many small, intimate places serving delicious Catalan and Spanish cuisine style food within 2 blocks of the apt. Also several bakeries and breakfast spots even closer for a morning caffe and pastry. Also a Starbucks 1/2 block away. The apt has 2 sets of twin beds in two good sized rooms, with one set being arranged so that they can function as a single large bed. There is also a separate queen sized bed in its own, more private room. There are 2 full baths with showers (only) and a half bath. There is a smallish but well equipped kitchen which has been recently renovated. There are many helpful travel guides and books in the apt for help in deciding which local activities and sights to see. The entire apt was renovated within the past few years and is architecturally quite lovely. From these points alone I would heartily recommend staying here to anyone wishing to enjoy Barca. What made the experience especially great however was Valentin's sister Agatha's help with exploring the city and the surrounding area: before the trip I emailed Valentin and asked for his help setting up tours and getting my group to and from the airport. He offered his sister's assistance, and she and her husband met us at the airport and took us back it the other end of the trip. She also set up 3 trips outside the city: to Monserrat (1+ hours away), to her family's swim club in Masnou on the Mediterranean (30 min away), and to the Poblat Monastery and town of Montblanc and to the Mas Forestar vineyard and winery (1 and 1/2 hrs away). She drove us and gave us a personal tour at each of these sites. This combination of in--town and out of town experiences made our vacation extra special and gave us a richer insight into the Catalan region of Spain. Our only regret is that we didn't have time to have her and her family to teach us how to cook paella and make sangria in the local way...alas, next time!"

  • Delivered on everything promised!

"This is a comfortable, attractive, well appointed and located apartment (very near bus, metro, grocery shops, and walking distance from beach) that was exactly as reviewed by many. It has two and a half renovated bathrooms which makes a big difference when getting ready for a day of sightseeing! Eat in kitchen is ample and has everything you need to prepare a meal. Keep windows closed at night; some late night partying in park behind the apartment was annoying, but is not a problem if you shut the windows. Host offered group transportation from airport which was very convenient and probably cost the same as a couple of taxis. Overall he was very responsive, even to clear up issue with deposit refund. Highly recommend!"
