  • Vue remarquable

"Appartement très agréable, bien équipé et parfaitement conçu. A 500 m de la ville, dans un bel environnement (côte sauvage, rochers, oiseaux, chemins de randonnée). Calme et reposant."

  • Wonderful stay!! Great location for visiting country villages, markets, the mountains and the beach!

"We were made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Very hospitable hosts in which they looked after all our needs. Clean, tidy, quiet and an ideal location for visiting the lovely surrounding countryside, with easy access to Armagnac country and all the small sleepy market towns. Ideal also for people who are active and who like to get into the mountains. The Pyrenees are only a short drive away, likewise the bigger towns of Tarbes and Lourdes. Therefore, there is always something to do and will cater for all."

  • Beautiful Property, Excellent Location

"We greatly enjoyed our stay at Casa Friesia. The apartment is conveniently located between Tossa de Mar and Lloret de Mar. Personally, we found Tossa much more enjoyable as a family. The apartment is well appointed and spacious. The photos truly represent the property. It worked perfectly for our family of 4 (2 teens). The beach is close by, but does require a drive. Walking it would be tough as it is straight downhill, or perhaps more importantly, uphill on the way back home. It was nice that the apartment came with beach equipment so we didn't have to buy much. Gunter and Kathrin could not have been more welcoming and friendly. They live in the apartment below the rental, which is great if you need anything (we had a power surge during a storm and Gunter came right up and helped us reset the main power source which would have taken us quite awhile to figure out on our own). Plus, they had excellent recommendations for restaurants and markets. We all enjoyed Tina and Anton, their dogs. All in all, Kathrin, Gunter, and their dogs make you feel right at home. Leaving them felt like you were leaving good friends. The only downside was that there were lots of mosquitos when the wind died down. Not a complaint, just so you know that you may want to pack or buy bug spray. Additionally, the wifi was excellent, but limited in a few areas of the apartment. This did not hamper us at all, as we would have preferred not to have it all all, but it's a necessary thing these days. Again, these comments are meant as informational, not complaints. We would definitely recommend Casa Friesia to family members and friends."

  • Lovely home and setting -- and the owners made it a fabulous stay!

"My wife and I stayed at Borghetto Calcinaia for more than a week in late October / early November. We enjoyed it immensely and couldn’t recommend it highly enough! The location is very convenient to area sightseeing, situated between Anghiari (8 minutes drive) and San Sepolcro (maybe 12 minutes), suitable for day trips to Citta di Castello, Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio and Urbino (all of which deserve at least a day trip). Don’t miss the closest - the medieval town of Anghiari — which is a largely untouched small town with few tourists. We also drove 5 minutes to start a nice walk on a gravel road along the Tiber River that feeds the lake. There is other hiking available in the area, too. The historic buildings have been beautifully rehabbed for modern living. The main guest house has a fully equipped kitchen with a full-size fridge, powerful gas cooktop and electric oven, and dishwasher, as well as a very good supply of pots, pans, and cooking gear, which we happily used daily as we prefer to cook our own meals. A lovely herb garden is also provided just outside the door for use by guests, featuring thyme, rosemary, sage, mint, oregano, parsley, chives, tarragon, a large bay tree, and some others I can’t remember. (There is also basil earlier in the season). The washing machine and clothes drying rack and clothesline were also very handy. Dennis and Gilly have created a beautiful landscape and gardens that seem to go on forever, including a large olive grove, numerous other fruit trees, an herb and flower garden, and fields of grasses and wildflowers, all artfully arranged. The views from the patios outside the main guest house, as well as the upstairs bedrooms, focus on the olive groves, hillsides, pool and garden. The ancillary guest houses feature wonderful views of Lake Montedoglio from their living room or patio. The property offers complete privacy, situated on a hill down a gravel road with no neighbors in sight. What made our stay most enjoyable, by far, was our delightful interactions with our gracious hosts, Dennis and Gilly. They were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and ready to offer insights into local culture. They pointed us toward the best local providers of wine and organic produce, and made sure we knew when each city was holding a fair we should see. They always respected privacy, but were only a door knock away if needed. Our daily discussions with them made the whole experience fun!"
