Saint-Denis has a climate that is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf Stream. This makes conditions mild for most of the year. Winters are cool, with daytime highs in the mid 40s in December and January. Sunshine can be scarce this time of the year and conditions are damp. Spring and autumn weather is moderate and changeable, with both warm spells and cold snaps bringing unseasonable conditions. Although it's heavily populated, Saint-Denis is very close to a diverse ecosystem. Created in 2008, Haute-Ile Park skirts the Marne river. Haute-Ile Park has observation cabins with loopholes to view birds in their natural environment without disturbing them. There are lots and lots of birds to see, including gulls, swans, and ducks, as well as kingfishers, sparrows, and grey herons.
How to get to and around Saint-Denis
The nearest airport is in Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), located 10.8 mi (17.3 km) from the city center. If you can't find a flight that works for your travel itinerary, you can also fly into Paris Orly Airport (ORY), which is 14.4 mi (23.1 km) away.
If you prefer train travel, the main station serving the city is Saint-Denis Station. You can get around Saint-Denis by catching a ride on the metro at Basilique de Saint-Denis Station, Saint-Denis-Porte de Paris Metro Station or Saint-Denis - Universite Station.
